New transmission and the noise is back...

I got my explorer back last Thursday with its new transmission. Everything was good until ... Sunday, i started hearing the noise again.

I understand, stuff happens. My dealership and Ford customer service have been great. I'm sure in the long run they will take care of it, but this is a new vehicle, and not a cheap vehicle and I'm so tired of dealing with this.

Ours has about 500 miles on it and i can hear a rattle or vibration coming from my transmission also. Will keep you posted if anything arises.

Lemon law

My transmission problems continue. In the shop 5x and a total of about 30 days for this problem, and the problem is worse then ever. My dealership has been more than accommodating, but i don't know what else to do. I would not feel comfortable taking this vehicle on a trip. I have put my life on hold long enough for this new vehicle. i don't see any other choice at this time but to pursue the lemon law.

Does anyone have any experience with the lemon law? Or know what i sould expect.

What happened? Update Please.

Its Fixed, Ford found the problem, It was in the Transmission Cooling System. They have a new redesigned part for it, and all is good.

Other than the annoying MFT glitches and last week my back seat fell apart and rattles like crazy, overall I'm OK with the vehicle.

Do you know what was the parts that has been redesigned and when did this occur?

My problem was a loud whining noise sometimes accompanied by a vibration in the accelerator that occurred near the transmission shift points.

The part was a high pressure line for the transmission cooling system that vibrated and made a noise during transmission high pressure points. It is part of the towing package.

Glad you finally got it fixed right.

You said your transmission seized when it had the problem? Did it like slow down the vehicle or something like the transmission was stuck on you? I have an early build with the tow package and I had a abrupt pause in acceleration and the car started to slow down.

Interesting. Have to watch out for that.

There are some folks who have been talking about vibration recently. Wonder if that is the case.

Can you or someone please post the new replacement hose part number.
Thanks

I took delivery of my 2012 Explorer on Saturday morning. Drove the first 80 miles with absolutely no issues. After sitting in the driveway for a couple of hours my Explorer would experience issues when the transmission reached shift points. Specifically the RPMs would increase, then the transmission would slip and jerk into the next gear. My Explorer has been at the dealership since Monday morning, as I'm driving around in an '04 bright gold focus.

Badgers21, What model did you get? 4WD? Did it have the tow package? From reading this forum, i have the impression that the tow package adds some changes that affect the transmission.

Could someone clarify? If not, then this could be a random transmission fluke fixable by software tweeks. Though, I hope its not a bad transmission all together. Good Luck.

2012 XLT with tow package. According to the service manager it is not a software or program issue. Frustrating to say the least

Badgers21,
I can help by escalating the concern for you. From previous messages, I already have your VIN so I would only need some additional details. So I can assist, please send me a private message with your contact information, mileage, and dealer info.

This happens to me too, but mostly when leaving a stop sign or when stopping on hills. It happened to me every single stop while driving up the hill on Divisidero from Lombard in San Francisco. My issue is that my dealership will not address the issue unless they actually witness it happening. So frustrating.

Please let us know what your resolution turns out to be.

my_vw_sucks,
Your description sounds an awful lot like the hill assist feature where if the X detects that you are on a hill and adds gas for a second while you move your foot from the break to the gas pedal. That would explain the increase in RPM. However, I always wonder what would happen if the gyroscope technology used by this system is broken/stuck where it thinks you are ALWAYS on a hill. That would mean it would try and lurch you forward on flat pavement every time you let go of the brake pedal from a complete stop...

But I'm am just speculating.

My dealer called today and after replacing a valve and noticing no difference, they ordered a new transmission. If all goes as planned, I will have my Explorer back early next week.
