The 5% off codes are not working anymore. I was looking to a pair of Bilsteins.

I replaced all four shocks about two month ago. I used Monroe 37122 for front and MOnroe 58617 for the rear. MOnroe has buy 3get 1 free promotion going on now., I am very satisfied with those MOnroe shocks. The 58617 even raised my rear of the truck for about two inches so the truck doesn't lean to the back any more.

I've got a set of front KYB-GR2's that are in perfect condition. Only had them on the truck about a year. They ride nice and firm. I swapped them for Sensa-Track for a more compliant ride. I'll sell the GR2's for $25 bucks shipped if anybody is interested.

One vote for Rancho. Been running the 9000RSX adjustables for a while now.

+1 on these same Monroes; installed them about 6 months ago - they have been great. Also replaced the "fifth shock" with a Monroe SC2958.

I installed some Monroe Sensa Trac shocks (load sensing out back), and I have been pleased with them thus far. The rear is a little stiff, but the added capacity is nice for keeping the vehicle sitting level when I have a few extra pounds in the rear.

I have replaced all my shocks with Monroe Sensatrac (they have now a buy 3 get 1 free rebate). Super smooth compared with the originals. Maybe not so good on offroad like Monroe Reflex or others based on shock-valving.

I am tempted to try on rear the Bilsteins (F4-B46-2134-H0 Heavy Duty) to see what's all the fuss about them.

Ill take em. PM me.

Reviving this old thread, do you like either of these+? https://www.autozone.com/suspension...el-g-shock-absorber-344269/730382_0?rrec=true or
Amazon product ASIN B000C53RXKJust a stock 4wd with 235/15s. All winter its potholes ice ruts and washboard in town. Every week or 2 get on the highway and do 50-60mph. Hoping to travel this spring secondary highways and a little interstate (mileage SUCKS doing 70 in this! 98SOHC with 177k. Money is an object but want shocks to last more than a couple years. Not towing either. What else would you recommend?

^ I've been happy with the linked Monroe Load Adjust coilovers on my '98. The ride was too busy over bumps at first but they got better after broken in.

Your KYB Excel-G link seems broken, did not land on the autozone page but I saw in the link what it was. From what I've seen (never owned any) the Excel-G are a little firmer than stock. Their Gas-A-Just are a little firmer still and what I have on the front of my '98.

The roads are bad here and the firmer front shocks make that worse, but it helps to not have short sidewall tires, and around here all the roads are full of curves so I want the extra control more than a smoother ride. What I had on previously was Monroe SensaTrac (no longer available AFAIK) and they were too soft, okay at first but too much of a floaty feel for my liking. If you want a smoother ride instead of more control, I'd look at something like a Monroe OESpectrum.

KYB's have a rebate right now. https://www.kyb.com/save/

personally like bilstien kyb gas adjust or monomax, or rancho rs5000 for stock application. former than stock, but it feels controlled. havent tried the load adjusts but have had air shocks those rode fine too but gas ones ride a bit better @Stic-o is the resident shock expert

The coilover assist linked above are what I am using on our Mounty. They will lift the rear a tad , and do ride stiffer, until you put some weight in the hatch. Then they work real well.

They require a bit of "finagiling" in that you will need to use a jack to raise the lower shock eye about an inch to allow it to line up in the lower shock mount. They have just enough pre load , and ya can't push em up by hand. Just be careful
