2nd gen hid retrofit

That exactly why they would fail. You are modifying a factory part. Lucky for me they have never looked at evil close enough, or never bothered me because if they did, I would have to undo a LOT of changes I have done!
Btw, don can you take a picture of the back side of them? I want to see how you get into them to change the bulbs.

Of course Tim.
The first thing I did was look at the back when they showed up. Bulbs are easily changed. I forgot to throw the box in my truck this morning to show you.

The black xlt is back together. Took it for a drive, and it drives straight again. The boy can take it for an alignment, and its good to go. I still love that truck. Its a ton of fun to drive. It is actually slippery when driving it, there's so much low end torque. Maybe its not the best vehicle for an accident prone 18 year old (ya think?).
Anyway, here's the pics Tim. I'm hoping I can do the install tomorrow, but its my wifes work party at our place. I'm sure she will keep me busy all day. Maybe Sunday.

I'm younger and love the torque. ;)

Headlights are in.
It was no fun at all. The pieces that mount the headlights to the front are very brittle. In the cold, it was a very bad thing (very brittle). Anyone doing this, make sure all hardware is good and warm before working with it.

Then, I couldn't mix and match mounting hardware as the factory hardware is wider and wouldn't slide in to the anzo headlight housing. This was a jon for a sanding wheel.

The wiring supplied with the hid's was super easy. Plug and play. The ccfl's required a bit of wiring as there was no harness supplied for these. Again, a 6 foot piece of wire and some solder and I was good to go.

There seems to be 2 cut offs on the beam pattern. The first cut off is really bright, and you can see the pattern on the ground. The second pattern (Not nearly as bright) might be aimed a bit high. I'm not sure if the 2nd beam pattern is made to be high to illuminate road signs. No was flashing me on the way to work this morning, but that doesn't really mean a lot. Its way to cold to stand outside and try to adjust the headlights with the beam pattern on a wall 30-40 feet away.

No pictures either. Again, it will need to warm up. -26F. Not even talking about any wind. I need to get out of this country. The deep south is looking pretty good right now.

Yes, the boy loves the torque also. I just don't think it likes him in the winter time. Even trying to be careful, there is a traction issue. With my v8, the power is much smoother, and easier to handle. The supercharged v6 on the other hand.....
I 'think' once the turbo is on the v8, it will still retain its winter driving manners.

Well, I don't have a supercharger, that's for sure.
How much power does it give you on the OHV?

White truck in a snow storm

The shots of the beam pattern at night will come when I get a chance (And find a wall to take good pic's with).
The hid's are a huge improvement over stock.

That looks awesome.
And very clean Ex.

Thanks!
The first pic was with just the halo's on, but the flash must hve reflected off the lens.

I did aim the lights better last night. It was a 30 second adjustment, so I was pretty happy.

That looks very sharp, almost thinking about the new in the box set of anzos I have tucked away,

Lights

Dono,
That truck looks gorgeous!
I was going to say get some aluminum rims, those steel ones look like the ones I had that were 26 lbs. a piece. The tear drops I got were 13 lbs. a piece.
But then vroomzoomboom posted and I was like, ohhhh the winter rims!
Those lights look amazing! Love the halo's.
Cant wait to see the night pictures.
Awesome! and Merry Christmas!

Random question,
Compared to your custom projectors, how would those aftermarket eBay headlights put out the light? Would they handle HIDs in them, or glare like crap?

The anzos are actually very good lights, I have them in four explorers rite now and have two sets stashed away, the clear chrome ones with oe style bulbs are better than a fresh set of factory ones
