2nd gen lift question

agreed! for me bushings are either moog or energy performance! and I agree about the BL, either go with the equivalent in suspension lift (eithin reason), and at least the suspension raises the engine too off the ground... but imo, ifs is good for light lifting, but it gets more expensive than solid when it comes to majot lifts (upwards of 2" usually) also love my hitch, its saved my bumper from a few rocks;)

You’re TT is maxed out? With stock keys only? Maybe your bars have more sag than mine but I only twisted mine 1.5 turns and I’m clearing the same tires as you. No way could I max out my TT as I had cv noise with 2 full turns on TT and had to back it down.

Never heard of Trakmotive before you mentioned them. Those look awesome. I’m gonna have to get some.
Mine I believe are B tbars if I read it right a few months ago, theres I believe a 1" higher height difference than before. OEM keys, yeah, tried swapping them but they were too large in diameter even though they claim to fit. But I did have to trim more off the passenger side than the driver side, so there are some odd differences. It works until I decide to just go the coilover route. Different bars will support more lift than others, can get longer torsion bolts to tighten a bit further as well, and the wear they've had affects it. I guess I just didn't get too lucky when it came to my trucks suspension. But as said, other than a little trimming, they do fit fine. Definitely suggest the trakmotive route, so nice so far honestly. Also, measure from your center hub to the top fender lip, want to say its 19" stock, so however far beyond that is how much you've lifted it.

@blakshukvw
The drive shafts, gas tank, transmission, frame rails, and all the precious little wires and tidbits under there that you don't think about until you break them must be protected from the evil Mr. Rock at all costs.
Protect them from the secret stump hidden in the mud pit too! Seen a few those and been lucky enough to hit any yet!

i had about 17.5-18 from hub to fender iirc with B bars too... maybe somday new bars will be on order :D

Or go the coilover route. Smoother ride, plus its one less hanging down to get caught on. Plenty of writeups on it too

ahhh true.... but then if i go coilover, then im tempted to go with the rcv (?) long travel kit... and more $$$

That's a fair point! Those long travels are expensive

i'd love long travel, but when i can get newtbars for approx 200 iirc, id rather stick with that than the long travel... which is significajtly more than 200 ;)

I assume b bars are not V8 awd bars then? I got lucky on this x. My last one was like yours, not matching side to side and required keys. I’ll measure tomorrow and see what I have. I know I need those axles. I definitely over extended my stock axles and they’ve not been happy ever since.

Should be on your door sticker, I had to manually go under there and check the tag on the bar though since my sticker is half faded, I'm not even sure which leaf code I have thanks to that! 😂

Yeah, definitely need to swap 'em as soon as ya can, don't need to make it worse.

****, I’ve probably put 5k miles on them grinding. Figured, they’re already junk.

Yeaah, not the greatest idea, but if it ain't broke yet. Try not to strain them too much until ya can get the new set, honestly with just the standard road travel, should last a bit. But its never good when something goes either snap, crackle, pop, or grinding on anything!

only time i like snap crackle pop is rice krispie cereal ;) and i'd assume becasuse the v8s were the heaviest, it would have the b bars, but im not 100% sure... still checkthe sticker

Hi guys! I'd like to avoid any fender trimming so 31s may be in my future. I'll need to measure and see how much space I have after a lift. Here's a few pics of the Ex!
Side note: one of my favorite vehicles to take off road when I was a kid was a 66 scout 800, 4 cylinder 3 speed manual on 31" mud tires. It was impressive off road completely stock.

Makes sense to be B bars, yeah. Some good cereal there! Haven't had any in a while

Give it a few searches, there are threads with max tire sizes for each lift from stock to the 5" rc lift and such. Stock height, should be able to throw 31s on with no issue I believe, better of you go ahead with a TT and lift shackles, gets you a couple inches of room. Looks nice by the way, just dont throw tires wider than 10.5" I believe, becomes an issue beyond that.

Edit:
Solved - Lifts and Max tire sizes

i couldnt run 31s at stock height  i even rub withmy OMEs and TT... its always interesting to see how differently everything fits peoples vehicles!

Very true, depends on the vehicle and its history. 31s definitely fit better on all of them than 32s do! 😂

true! but 32s also look a little bit better (imo) and getting 32s is just another excuse to be able to get a superlift ;):bounce:

Definitely agreeable again! Still probably won't work on going SOA with the RC lift until gas starts to come down, gas mileage is bad enough as is!

Side note: how did you add the little green dude? See it so often and ain't got a clue, that and the colored text.
