Ok guys, sorry if this has been answered before, if it has you can just show me where please, but ive looked through a ton of stuff and decided i just need to start this new thread.
heres the deal. I have 97 explorer 4x4. I want about 4-6 inches of lift. But at this point i would be happy even with three inches. I will not do a body lift, if im going to do this i want to do it right, something thats going to help suspension travel etc etc. So that would also mean i dont want to just throw on some bigger shackles.
So, am i right that the only suspension lifts out there for a explorer are over $1000 dollars? Is there any other way to do it without costing that much? I cant afford to spend $1000 on a car i bought for $1000. . . Somebody help me before i go out and buy i jeep, which i dont want to do....

Cant really do much with torsion bars. If you want more travel and more lift without a body lift, id say do a SAS (Solid Axle Swap).

then would i basically have the same suspension as a first gen? You think i could just pull one off a first gen? I know the rear is pretty easy to lift, the front suspensions the problem.

You could pull one off a first gen, although that is still an independent front suspension, but you could lift it easier than you can with torsion bars.
