31x11.5's ?....quite possibly.

guys, i was reading this:

and it says i can fit a 31x10.5 and the off chnace of getting a 31x11.5. "off chance"? what does that mean?

i have some 285 60 r17's which are about 30.8"x11.2". can i use stock offset wheels or will i need a different offset wheel? (the wheels im gonna get are 17x8.) i should be able to use stock offset wheels, right?

off chance means it may be possible on some xplorers but it probably isnt going to fit due to manufacturing tolerances.... unless you dont mind mr sawzall... then there is a chance that almost anything will fit

well, im assuming that there probably isnt any easy way to find out then? damn, this sucks.
