4.0l Engine Swap

Can the '93-'94 4.0l engines be used in a '92 Explorer 4x4? Will the '92 wiring harness, ECM, A4LD, etc., match up to the later model engines?

basically you can use any year OHV 4.0L in there, you just strip it down to the block and heads, then use your 92 intakes, sensors, wiring, fuel rail, etc.

After 97 they have a 8 bolt crank, so you have to get the flywheel, spacer, and bolts for this engine if you go that route.
 












remove your fender liners now, get out your 1/2" drive wobbly and 18-24" extensions :) (much easier to get the bellhousing bolts this way, in fact if one guy sits on top of the engine and quides the sockets onto the top 4 bolts, other guy around the back of the trans, you can remove all 8 of them quick and easy)
