Guys, I have been all over the search function and can't quite pin down an answer to my question.

My current setup is rear cats removed, stock muffler replaced and turned down 6 inches after muffler, nothing else behind it. It pretty much sounds like junk as I think the old muffler is shot.

I want to do this on the cheap, but want decent sound, not overly loud. I was looking at going either a two in two out muffler and just turning them both down or out to the side or actually using 2 mufflers.

Here is a 2 in 2 out on ebay called "Full Boar" for like 45 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400147469948?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

What say you?

That is a Flowmaster knock off and is going to sound like crap. Soend the money on a good muffler. I highly recommend a dual in dual out Magnaflow. It will run around $100-110. It is stainless steel.

SummitRacing dot com has some pretty good exhaust deals. I'm about to buy a Jones exhaust muffler. Havent tried it yet, so no review, but the price is right for me and i've had good experience with summit before.

I took the rear cats off thinking there was a problem with them only to find the muffler appears to be the issue. Is there anything lost or gained by not replacing them (aside from the enviromental concerns)? Do they do anything to the sound?

The cats do muffle the sound.
