Hey guys. So a while ago my ****ty auto a4ld went out on my 94 sport. I was considering doing a manual swap, but just decided to keep an a4ld in it. I bought a donor car which was a 93 4 door explorer, same tranny just a mechanical transfer case. I swapped tranny from the 93 into my 94 and kept the electronic transfer case from my 94. I have everything connected and back together but my car isn’t moving at all. It doesn’t seem to go into any gear when I move the shifter. I was wondering what I should check on it besides all of the electrical connections. Is there some kind of difference between the harnesses from 93-94? Thanks, Chase

Somewhere on here I read that the last changes of the a4ld was in 93.5. I do not know all the different changes myself but I know the 93.5+ are "supposed" to be stronger. I cannot speak for the harness.
I'm interested in the answer myself being that I have a 93 a4ld that I plan to put in my 94 if/when it goes out.

I do know in 93.5 they started using Torrington bearings, etc.

Did your use the original torque converter or the one from the replacement transmission?

I’m going to regret asking this….but any chance you want to sell the mechanical transfer case or trade it for a like new electric one? I’ve just swapped one from my donor car, and it works great, but I’m already regretting not going with a mechanical.

How many quarts of fluid have you added? You do know when you install a fresh auto you have to fill the pan, run it through all the gears, and keep adding fluid until it is at level in park at temp

Should take 10-14 quarts
