Does anyone know if the AppLink package will be pushed into the 2011/2012 Ex's? Now that we are running the same version of MFT as the newer cars that do have the AppLink addons it seems we should have it too...:)

I am seeking advice here. Not sure if I should jump and do upgrade or go back to dealership.

I took delivery on the Ex 10 days ago. In that time, I got the SD card error 3 times and tonight on a 300 mile drive the whole system rebooted including taking down the R side of cluster three times on me.

My concern is I know dealer is getting cards for pre-delivery, so they might have my card there. But if I do the upgrade, then I really have no leverage on dealership to get them to fix it completely. . I have decided it is scarey as heck to have that display go dark at night suddenly.

Thought opinions?
Hi Snoopyto. Welcome to the Forum and the Explorer group.:wavey:
I thought I read somewhere that the 2013 were shipping with the new updated MFT. Perhaps not the early ones? As chimoman indicated the SD card for the updated system is A3. What is shown on your card or the package?

Peter, Snoopy has a 12. So I'm guessing it's MFT numero uno.

My bad. Didn't look at the profile info. Must be that nice warm sunshine coming throught the window causing early 'Spring Fever'. It is supposed to be nice here next week as well. 12 tomorrow and 13 ( 53 - 55 F) on Monday and above average all week. The new Winter tires didn't get much of a workout. Thanks again for setting me straight on Snoopy's MY.

OK. Here's the skinny. I just got off the phone with Ford. Those who have "go to the dealer" well, go to the dealer. They will update your vehicle and give you the SD card if you require one. Apparently this is faster than waiting for it to come in the mail. Preferred customers I guess. LOL. The rep wasn't sure why we had to go to the dealers. He did say it would be faster to do this way as some of the people getting it by mail would have to wait up to a month or more to get it. Works out good in the long run to have to go to the dealer. I just need mine to order my card. Hopefully they have them in stock. Cheers.

Thanks for the info.

It seems even faster to download the update and install it yourself. No waiting. I installed mine this morning and it seems to be working fine. I was surprised that the radio played during the entire installation. I thought with the update installing it would turn off the radio. At least there's a little entertainment if you wait it out in the car.

I can't stand it! How long does it take? The mail came today and still nothing.... please god!!!

ugh, mine says "This SYNC update requires a visit to your authorized local dealership. Please print the Request for SYNC Update form and then make a service appointment. Be sure to bring the printed form with you to your dealership. "

So i don't have an option to install it on my own?

Flaguy, I do not see the link to download it in the SyncMyRide web site. When I sign in all I see are lists of the old installed updates and a link to find a dealership to have it installed. I 'd much prefer doing this myself and not having to make a trip to the dealer.

Yes this is true. However for those who have Nav it will be quicker to have the update done at the dealer. The dealers should have the new maps. I believe that will be quicker than snail mail.

Ugh my dealer didn't know what to do. he is aware of the update, but was not aware of who gets the SD card so he asked me if I already got an SD card in the mail.... i have not.

darenberg, When I sign in to syncmyride, it takes me to a page which says sync services, vehicle health report and update and customize. I don't know if that works for you, but the link is

Hi again Chimoman.

The saga continues, kind of reminds me of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
I put in the A3 card and no response. called the dealer who downloaded the new software on tuesday with the new AIPC and they have no clue why it won't work. My screen in the upper right corner says information, not navigation .All other functions of the new software are flawless.
Went online at syncmyride and chatted with their rep and they are telling me that possibly there are different AIPC's depending if the car came with factory nav or not. Maybe the reason people are getting instructions to bring it in are that there are two different software installs ? Who knows? Apparently they don't.
Will bring it in on Mon. I called them up and told them what the sync guy said and they were clueless.
Not too upset, its laughable but after 15 months and 20,000 miles I'm in the home stretch. (Fingers crossed). :>) or :>(.

Yes, it'a a good thing we can laugh. Not funny though. Maybe some rep on here can actually find out some "FACTS" and let us know. If I was a Ford employee I would be embarrassed for sure. I wonder if Ford would like someone to plan these events. You know like an executive. Fire somebody please.

Oops, sorry, clicked twice. Mea culpa

The Syncmyride site tells me I need to make an appointment with the dealer to have my update installed. This is inconvenient. Does this mean I will not receive an update in the mail? I don't mind waiting, it would be easier to perform a self install.

That is what we are all attempting to get clarrified. If look at some of the other threads regarding this update, no one really seems to know what is going on. This seems to include the dealers themselves.
Everybody seems to be getting different answers to the same questions.

Snowbird- at this point, I'd be up for driving over with a camera so I can video you putting a brick on the gas pedal and letting your Ex drive across the grass at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, and watching it crash through the glass. We can grab a beer at the Fairlane Club afterwards. Please advise... :D

Huh... That's a new one, eh?

I love Ford. I bleed blue. But seriously- their dealer education programs absolutely SUCK out loud. From potential products, to new features, to features on existing models, to service- none of them are any good. Sure, you can find a good sales rep once in a while, if they've been there for at least 3 years, but as a whole- pile of suck. It sucks when a Forum has more knowledgeable people about their new products than the dealers do.
