I forgot about the cosmic angst I went through reading codes on my 92 and looking at the Haynes manual with 2 digit codes. Made so little sense that I had to hook the wires to a strip chart recorder. Sure enough, nice clean three digit codes showed up.
I'm still a little concerned about the 6V. I did some experimenting with how little voltage a pump can work on and 6V is still enough to drive around on. This is because 80% of the fuel goes back to the tank in a normal system for cooling. Sounds like you still have some resistance issues. ith all those wires hanging out, make a current reading. A current of less than 3.5A indicates problems.
