THE ADAPTERS ARE IN

Yes, there was a dummy 700-R4 bolted in to my Ex today. Sorry, no pics yet, but I should have some soon. I think we finally have it figured out how to fool the PCM into thinking the A4LD is still there so it won't trigger the check engine light and work normally. Other than that we are looking at the first replacement trannny bolt on kit for the 4.0L to hit the market really soon. I know I can't wait, anyone else.:D :D :D

I want i want :D

I will sell my hopped up A4LD to do this conversion.....

Now to locate a 2.8L 60 degree TH-700R4

Im watching and waiting...

Saw a v-6 700 on e-bay, if you are looking for a core 410

Let's start a new topic. I know people have had a problem shifting the t-case into low after doing an auto to manul tranny swap. I think it was due to input parameters to the 4wd shift computer not being met. To shift into low, what parameters must be met and where do they come from? I am trying to solve a problem before it becomes one, if it is one. Any ideas?

This should not be a problem as long as the wiring conversion is done properly.

The EEC has a electric shift enable wire.

For the electronic shift controller to make the leap to LOW RANGE the computer must tell it is's okay.

First by the truck must be in Neautral (Neautral safety sensor and circuit must be wired correct)

Then the truck must be stopped (speed sensor)

And the truck must already be in 4hi

Thats it, really its only one wire, it travels through the 3 pos clutch switch and also through the neautral safety wire in the tranny.
There are some slight differences in the wiring going to the tranny whether its a 5 speed or an auto, HOWEVER as long as the wiring is correct this should not be a problem.

(We had this problem when we did the 4.0L into Brett's 87 BII, because he used an A4LD and my truck was at the time the 5 speed, so we had to figure it out, simple wiring jumper at the clutch switch fixed it.....

Sounds easy enough. I will get that to the guys at AA incase they run into that problem.

sounds to me like they need the wiring books.........

with the books I have it gives you details and location of every wire in the truck from front bumper to rear.....
ANYThing is possible with these books....

What books are they and where can I get a set. I am sure they probably have axis to them, I am just trying to give them help and do a little research so they can fix it prior to finding it don't work.

I dont think they are available anymore...

Brett got them.

I have them for Bronco II, Ranger, Explorer, Mustang, even Aerostar, for pretty much all years....

When I get home I will get the book publisher info and post it......

Every once in a while you see them on Ebay and such........

We made copies (not cheap, $80 per book at Kinko's front to back, like 18" x 32" paper) and had them laminated. :)

How many books are there for each vehicle. I might be interested in buying a set off you, Kinkos style.

Do we have a rough idea on cost of the adapter yet?

Jon

They are not sure on the cost yet and are trying to keep it reasonably priced. It depends on the demand of the product and how many they can make at one time. Keep an eye ont their website as they will soon be putting up something about the project to see exactly how much interest there really is.

I am not sure how they are tracking this but they are using this as a tool to see how much interest there is in this product. Go here to see a little info on it and then shoot them an e-mail and ask questions. That should prove there is a market for this product.

New Picture

Getting closer. Here is a shot of the stock 1354 t-case attatched to the new 700-R4 tranny:D
Also in the backround it looks like there is a second adapter sitting there by itself. I haven't talked to them yet, but it also looks as if the adapter has accomidations for manual t-case linkage mounting.

wILL IT FIT?

Will the starter and exhaust clear that sucker?
I hope us guys with aftermarket exhaust and trannyx members dont have anyproblems.........

Being that it's designed to use stock driveshafts, the length is not a problem. They have already had a mock(plastic) tranny installed and had no clearance problems with stock exhaust or body. I have no body lift before you ask. Looking at this picture, I can't see any real difference in size where it would cause clearance issues.
