Alternator removal and replacement on a SOHC

check this out, alternator went bad, replaced with a brand new one. It didn't work. returned the new one, got another, didn't work. brand new battery< new starter solenoid, battery cables, the alternator still does not work under the hood< it sure does on the bench though. Anyone had this problem? 95 X 4.0... weird stuff....

If 3 alternaters went bad/don't work it's a strong hint that this issue does not lie in the alternator.
