Ambient light resetting

Hello,
I just purchased a new to me 2012 Explorer Limited with 302A package.
What I notice is the ambient light color resets back to default blue after restarting the car or the next day. Any ideas why this happens?

I updated my MFT version to the latest available.

I think it's probably the latest MFT update that's causing it. Our 2011 Limited does the same thing since the last MFT update.

I have a 2011 Limited as well and have not had any issues with the ambient lighting at all, before or after the 3.6.2 update.

There is already a 7 page thread on this issue in the IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) forum so I will merge your thread with it.
Take the vehicle to the dealer so that they can add this issue to their database. It is quite doubtful that they will be able to do anything about it but at least it will add an other report on this problem so that hopefully it can be 'fixed' on the next update.

It appears that when MFT does a reboot(scheduled System Maintenance) it resets the Ambient Lighting to the default blue. MFT does the reboot when your vehicle is shut down. How often this happens depends on the extent and features you use within MFT. Those that use their vehicle very little may go months without a reboot, whereas others that use it extensively may get the reboot quite often. The reset to default can be easily replicated by using the delayed reboot app.

One thing to add to the post by Lewisra is that anytime you open the doors when the ambient lighting is on, the colour will default to the light blue. This is mentioned previously in this thread. Once started and doors are closed it should go to the colour you had selected.

Just to update - I tested tonight, and since the new MFT update, the ambient light color stays the same after restarts, etc. I did disconnect my battery last week for about 15 mins, and made sure I set everything all over. Looks like it works.

When you say "new MFT update", what are you referring to? Do you mean 3.6.2?

I'm having this same issue. Along with a rear park assist issue that comes and goes. Rebecca, there has to be a way to track this ticket on your end. We seem to have the cause of it nailed down. Can we get an official response on what's being done about it? This may seem like a trivial problem but no one likes having to turn a setting back to where they had it every couple of days.

If you go with the OEM blue as your setting then your problem is solved.

I have exactly the same issues and I doubt this is an isolated issue. It is a trivial issue as mentioned earlier in this thread but I can't believe it is unknown to Ford. If it is unknown it sure make me doubt Fords QC!

This is a common problem that has been going on for some time. Dealers are no help. You would think Ford would have a fix by now. Had a axle bearing go out a 15K miles. Not an isolated case either. Dealer said he has seen it before. Ford quality is slipping.

To my knowledge no dealer has been able to 'fix' this issue. I believe it is likely a software issue of some sort but I don't know why everyone doesn't have it then.:scratch: I believe this is something that the IVT people at Ford have to solve.

We are having the same issue with our 2012 Limited. We'll set the color to Purple (Go Ravens), and then at some point a few days later notice that it has gone back to the default color. Not a major issue just annoying.

I have taken delivery of my 2015 as a replacement of my 2013 and so far it has not reverted from the orange back to the light blue. I will keep every apprised as this nuance might have been fixed.

You'll be back. Software hasn't changed. It appears to be based on how much and how you use MFT.

Quick update: 900+ miles, a month of use and a few Sync updates..and my pick for the ambient lighting (orange) is still there.

Maybe they did fix this.

What do you mean by "a few SYNC Updates"?
