Finished up my retrofit yesterday. Really wasnt too bad at all besides dealing with the cheap mounting hardware on the chinese headlight housings.

The front of the truck looks alot better now and its nice to finally have a proper hid kit again!

This is my summer project.

What projectors did you use and from where?

And where'd you buy the cheap housings? I need a second set for driving during the retrofit. Lol.

I used the Mini H1 from TRS. The housings are Depo brand from ebay. Theyre actually not that bad, but the housing adjustment parts are junk. Overall, im happy with them though.

Did you actually buy the projectors off TRS or just off eBay?

Also, do you have pictures of how you mounted them up? Using the included rings to screw it on? Did you have to cut anything? Do they fit well with the bulbs in or are they touching the battery/air box?

I bought the projectors from TRS. I only purchased the headlight housings and Fast Bright F3 ballast from eBay.

I dont have any pics of them mounted in the housing. Basically all I did was cut away the 9007 bulb mounting stuff in the back of the housing so the threads of the projector could protrude enough and I could screw on the nut to lock it down. I ended up taking off close to 3/4" of material on the back of the housing.

I used the larger of the two alignment rings that come with it and ended up ordering some new silicone washers from ebay since I wasnt happy with the two choices that came with the projector. The larger ring had more surface area to clamp down on the housing and the new washer I used was a larger diameter but thinner in width. The larger washer that came with it was too thick and the smaller washer was too small in diameter to seal the opening from the inside.

The fitment once installed is perfect. The projector and bulb holder only add maybe a half inch of depth on the back of the housing. They dont hit anything once installed. Basically they dont stick out any further than the stock 9007 bulb did.

That's awesome.

I need to order my projectors in.

How does the high beam work, I've been wondering about that.
Does the wiring harness come with the wire to connect to the high beam shroud that opens, or do you manually wire it up?

The wiring harness from trs controls all that. Flip the stalk without the low beams on and it activates the lights and high beam shield. Just like how it would be from the factory. No need to wire anything besides power and grounds. I did however have to switch the low and high beam pins on the 9007 connector for the wiring harness because they were wired backwards from trs.

I was going to cheap out and get the projectors without their HID kits, but I guess it's not worth it.

Might as well get the whole package from them.

Got any pics of light output?

Well thats what I did but ended up going back and ordering their wiring harness and 3five bulbs out of the clearance section. The ebay harness and hid kit were junk. The Fast Bright F3 ballast are really good and recommended on HIDPlanet for cheaper ballast.

This is the only output shot I have.

Looks good.

Yeah, it makes sense to just order the whole H1 package in one go.. Just need to bite the bullet.
