The crank is a rebuild that has been turned. It came from rockauto.
Apparently it has been polished and balanced.
I'm hoping that if the crank, rods, rod caps, and pistons are balanced separately the motor will be balanced.
I asked about balancing the assembly, and the machine shop said it would cost about $1000.00. Not going to happen.
1st, i wanna ride with you next time.
2nd, do a 1/8th mile run instead, see what you get
amazing difference! Great to hear. Sounds like your getting to the point where you will have to be careful with your right foot. The chant starts...Dyno.Dyno... Dyno.........
I sure hope the few bills I'm floating on my motor wakes it up more, along with taking care of the low compression cylinder (Of course).
Honestly, my Ex is pretty fast, but its a drug. Its never enough.
Rod bolts came in. The machine shop can now finish the short block.
Also, on the SOHC oil pan, Tim pointed out a couple of bolt gaskets that are on the outside of the oil pan. Since installing the motor and having a leak in the pan area is a bad thing, I ordered new gaskets (Washers with rubber grafted to the inside of them). $16.00 each.ouch.
Coming along though. I'm hoping for the weekend of Oct 27th to pull my motor.
Sweet. Glad to see it coming along. Me and jd got mine out Saturday. Ill be starting the process all over now lol
Sounds like a plan man.cant wait for the first post when you get it running! All I'm waiting on are headers, and push rods.
Push rods were ordered a few weeks ago, so hopefully they will be here soon.
Headers are another story. Expected due date to summit is Nov 5th. The weekend before that is when I was hoping to re-install my motor. I might have to move the whole removal/install scheme to actually doing my removal in 2 weeks.
I'll need 1 week with no vehicle so the machine shop can install the dual rate springs, and check the heads for valve sealing.
I'm betting I'll have my short block back from the machine shop by end of this week.
I'll be able to get the high volume oil pump, and Tims SOHC pan (Painted and waiting) on very quickly. Then timing chain.
Then, I wait for the right timing to pull my old motor and get the heads off for the machine shop to perform their magic on.
I dont see a build thread? Or even a continuation of your original refresh.
You didnt post the issues that brought you to where you decided you needed to pull your motor, or just how far your going this time?
I'm hurt (not really). How are we going to learn from what your going thru?
What didnt he do to that motor.we still trying to figure what exactly went wrong beside him driving it thro and into every thing in his path!!lol what's being done may be a little secret and up in the air for now.BUT lets just say its going to be BAD ASS in a ranger![]()
Excellent!
You and your secrets. geez.
