Another OHV M90 build

I'm looking forward to seeing some new dyno numbers.

I'm looking for a pump now. I have to wonder how a diaphragm pump will hold up thru one of our winters.

Pretty easy to do though, your right. Nozzle, pump, holding tank, and hobbs pressure switch. A bit of wiring, and its done. Its all about finding a good pump.

They come with everything including a pump.i would run their alcohol blend.i don't think you have to worry about it freezing, their should be enough alcohol in it to keep it from but i don't know how cold it gets.also how much you would need to keep from freezing.if the windshield fluid doesn't freeze it shouldn't freeze.think im going with a snow kit, pretty cheap.

I was looking at a diy, but there really doesn't seem to be a savings. Back to the cost of the pump

O no way its a diy.all the parts would cost more than to just buy a kit.$200-300 you can get a real nice kit.

but i don't know how cold it gets

ever hear the saying, "cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey"
yea, we have that saying to, but substitute it with polar bears, or penguins

Hahah!!o man that's cold:(

im going to make your life a tad easier don. a buddy of mine is going to bead blast those brackets (cause they look a little icky as well), so i am going to drop them off to him tonight, and he should have them done in a day or two.

Yup, colder than a witches t!t.

I was just worried about the pump diaphragm. It really looks like windshield washer antifreeze rated for -35 is the perfect solution to use.

I will look for a good deal on a snow performance kit. They all seem to use the same pump anyway.

That's excellent Tim, thanks a lot!

I was stressing about the confusion on if the Arp rod bolts will work.
All the info I can find says these are the right ones, just .2 of an inch shorter than stock(1.8 inch compared to 2 inch). There isn't quite as much bite on the nut, but I'm sure it will be fine.

Arp advertises these bolts are 5 times stronger than stock.

Im pretty sure the bolts stick out the nut a bit so a shorter bolt still will have plenty of bite.

your new/used prudy brackets are done

thats not painted either. sorry bout the blurry pic

They look so nice I wonder if they would polish to a mirror finish and if so, what they would look look like polished on my new motor.

Maybe tomorrow I can sneak away from work and pick up the pieces. I might swing by. 'the chrome pit' and see what he says about them.

you would have to get them clear coated after that. they would oxidize. i havent got the main bolts off yet, so i dont know when you want, or need them.

we can pull the main bolts off mine, and do your motor all at once. Id like to make sure it all buttons up nicely before proceeding with mine.

Id like your pan to paint though.

Do you need a nice heavy duty bag to wrap your sohc? I can bring one.

I could clear coat, not a prob there. Im just not sure if itw worth the effort of polishing for how much anyone will see. Im going to feel bad installing my old alternator and a/c pump. I guess I could paint them chrome, but I'm sure that would look cheezy.

if you have the bolts from the donor motor, bring them. they will do for now. yea, was going to say, you should prob paint your alt. but it may not stand out too much. i never did mine, and i cant really notice it too much.

I took the bolts to the machine shop just in case they needed them for some reason.

I think it will be best to bring the ohv bolts and windage tray to your motor and make sure everythings good before installing your bolts on my ohv.

Just some random updates:
New pistons came in! They were all 580 grams except for 2. Those two weighed in at 581 grams. A little bit of material off some safe spot on the inside of the two fixed that in a hurry.

Tim gave me his sohc pan and bolts. Unfortunately when I went to the machine shop to get the crankshaft bolts, they gave me everything but the bolts. I was hoping to button Tims motor back up yesterday to make sure everything was sealed. Tims good with the whole thing, Thanks Tim!

This morning I took the pan to the machine shop for cleaning, along with the crank, pistons, rods, and bearings. I wont get the pan back till next week unfortunately. They will install the crank and plastiguage clearances to make sure the bearings are good.

Still waiting on the arp rod bolts, they would have shipped already had it not been for the last minute addition of the headers. Too bad, as those bolts are the only thing holding up the machine shop from finishing their part.

I opened up the gasket set only to see cork valve cover gaskets(the cheap ba$t#%ds). This was even the premium felpro gasket set. They are not going on my motor. I'll order the felpro rubber ones. Also, I forgot to order my timing chain set. Order going in today.
