Hi all

I am in the process of putting an atlas II into my V8 and have run into a problem. There is concern that when the AWD is taken out, the computer will kick codes and cause a tranmission/engine malfunction.
Does anyone have any info on this or if it will be a problem

thanks all
andy

I don't know if this will work or will even be a direct plug in... But I thought I read somewhere that someone ran a mustang ECU in their 302 because it was more aggressive... Don't know if it worked or not but there is a way to find out... Try it!!!

And if you do get this figured out PLEASE let me know how it goes... This is something I definatly want to do to my truck... Well the 4LO option not necessarily the atlas II but I wouldn't say no to the atlas II either...

Actually now that I think about this a bit more I think that StadX2 said that our AWD systems are fluid based not ECU based... If that is the case then you shouldn't have anything to worry about right...

I'd try to get ahold of him and see what he says... He's been looking into this for a long time and has a plethora of information stocked away in his brain on this subject...

Well I don't know aboaut your V8, but I put an Atlas II in my 97 SOHC and when I first start the truck the 4wheel lights blink, but after a few miles it will turn off. When I'm 4wheeling the OD light will start to blink until I move the 4wd selector switch to 4hi or 4Lo, so the computer does get confused. I know you don't have a selector switch, but I'm thinking that your's will probably get confused also. Hope this helps. Oh and you'll love your Atlas. The shifting is a little strange. I was at Truckhaven and though I had put both levers in 4lo, as I was trying to go up this hill I would just about make it, but not quite, The reason I couldn't get up over the hill was that I didn't have the front lever shifted all the way into 4LO, so I was really trying to get up the hill in 2wd. Talk about feeling like a putz.

thought I' d post a follow up as I find information out.
The Atlas II can be put in a V8. It will bolt up directly to the transmission. A 2 inch body lift needs to be put on in order for it to fit. No problems with the electronics, other than addition of a speedometer pulse generator from "Nevada speedometer". Both front and rear axle shafts need to be replaced.
No info yet on the hubs.
