Well I hope I can speek for the rest of our family, but we had a blast today. Sure would have been nice to make it all the way over. Hope to have pictures up soon.

It was the first time four wheeling for a few of our group and I think we have them hooked.

Hope you will be able to fix your fan StadX2

Heath we need to send you to class on driving in snow banks.

Can't get pictures to load, so you will just have to go to photopoint and check them out.

It was a great day, even though conditions weren't optimal. A recent spring storm dropped a lot of snow in Colorado's high country and it's just beginning to melt. Still, the trail provided a great chance to get a run in before Moab!

I have a few pictures up here: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=954313&a=12905758 But I'm still uploading, so check back over the next couple of days for additional pics...

I think some of us may also have a rude reminder tomorrow to remember the sunscreen next time! Ouch! :( Thanks again to Matt for being a great trail guide!

LOL I didn't realize how far darkman sunk down in the snow since I was the one operating the winch! Anyways, thanks for the great run guys. I love going with the Explorer folks for exactly the reason I mentioned at beaujos, the commrodory (spelling?) can only be found there, and I hope to tackle that trail in another few weeks when we'll be able to go the whole way without worrying about getting turned back because of snow.
Anyways, heres my pics: http://bart.is-s.com/~explorers/madams/saxon2001/
not many pictures (just mainly the group shots) but I'm sure others will fill in the photo gap.

Basically, for those that DIDN'T go but thought about it, we had a great trip. I decided to cruise up there really early (hit the trail around 8am) and made it to exactly the same spot the group did, a giant snowdrift blocking the trail. I think this was the hottest temperatures I'd ever experienced on Saxon Mountain, typically its nice and cool but not this time! We still had a great time despite the occasional heat. Much of the snow melted just between the time it took me to do the pre-run and the time the group made it up. Hopefully within a few weeks it'll be completely dry and we can make the whole trail! However attempting the snow-busting did make for an interesting trip... it was great to get to use the winch once again.

I'm always happy to run trailboss for that trail... I'll be happy to do it in a few weeks when we go back. I know that trail like the back of my hand, LOL.

Very cool guys! I used to love those days when you could wear short sleeve shirts while there was still snow on the ground!

Heck, now I'm glad to hear you guys had a blast!

I guess my taunting helped.. :D

not only could we wear short sleeves but many of us returned with nice sunburns as well :). Hopefully we'll be doing it again in a few weeks once all the snow has cleared, can't wait!

Okay guys we're planning on going again anyway right... Well, my dad is going to be here the weekend of June 2nd with his Ranger... Will that work for everyone??? I haven't positively talked him into it but even if he won't come I will... He has other people to visit besides just me... But I think we can get him to come... Do me a favor and send him an invite... I'm trying to get him to register and use the board but he keeps forgetting... muddeagle@earthlink.net I'd appreciate the help in getting him up on the mountain... He used to LOVE to wheel... Anyway...

Tara and I loved every minute of this trip... It was a blast... I'll be buying a new CB for the next run... Anyway Tara and I are both burned but well worth it... mmpc got his pinstripes on his new 02 for MUCH cheaper than the ford dealer would have charged... I was the first to loose a part on the trail and the first to get stuck... I'll put that shroud back on sometime soon though... Anyway here are my pics from the trip... If you click on the pic you'll get a much larger view with better quality... Sorry I didn't have them up last night but they took a lot longer to upload to photopoint than I expected...

By the way at the bottom there is a treat for everyone that Tara and I saw on the way home from the restaurant... I'd tell you but you'll just have to go through the pics and see them...

And last of all... PLEASE send my dad an e-mail urging him to register to the board and join us for the fun...

:D :D :D :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :D :D :D

HEATH!

WASH YOUR TRUCK!

I just saw you driving down Colorado Blvd. in a muddy ass truck.

Did you wash the sides and not the front? It looked like the only thing that was dirty was the front and the hood!!

HIX

Why didn't you flag me down??? Or were you on your way somewhere???

I'll was my truck Monday or Tuesday... Besides I'm starting to like the two tone look... Brown and Burgandy... :p

Well, we waited 'til after church to wash BamBam. Had to show off a little bit. Then we stopped at a fund-raiser car wash. You should have seen the looks on their faces. LOL

Anyway, we had a great time and would like to do the trail again. :D We did find the trail in the Wells trail book. I didn't realize how much longer that trail is!

Anyway, as soon as I get our film developed and scanned, we'll have pics up and link them to this thread. (Sorry, we're still old school 35mm folks.)

Just wanted to say I had a blast on Sat. on Saxton! Thanks to everyone who came-you are all a truly unique and fun group of people. Special thanks to Matt for leading, Trent for a wonderful job spotting, and Heath and Tara for the great picture of me "almost" tipping over!:bounce:

I really enjoyed the puddles, and the section where my wheel was in the air (even if it was a bit freaky!) I also enjoyed the looks I got at the gas station when I jumped out of my mud encrusted truck...guess they were expecting someone else! :D Anyway, I'm game to do it again in the near future and can't wait until Moab!!!! :bounce:

Also thanks to my talented brother, Chris (MMPC), for the great video footage of a run we probably don't want to share with the folks. Something about a leaning Explorer scares them a bit.

I don't have to worry about showing my folks the video. They are coming to watch in person. In fact my dad will be riding on the first day with us.

by the way, heres one of the shots of the view from the top that we didn't get to (but hopefully will next time)... I can't promise mountain goats, but I can promise a great view :).
