Just wanted to put this out there.
Be careful with the ‘mechanic in a bottle.’
I was never a believer in anything but fuel system cleaners like Seafoam and Techron. Always believed that leaks are to be fixed properly.
Anyway, mom’s ‘98 Expedition was having a misfire issue I couldn’t figure out. It had a couple bad coils, but still ran kinda rough after. She took it to a mechanic for a second opinion and he said the intake manifold gasket was leaking, allowing some coolant in. I don’t have my tools up here, and changing the gasket wasn’t an option. He recommended using a stop leak product. I was hesitant, but went with Bars. I know some guys on here like K-Seal, and figured it was similar.
Added a bottle, per the directions.
It didn’t really help with the misfire much, if at all. Six weeks later, the heat stopped working—in both front and rear HVAC systems. Clogged the whole ****ing system up.
Never again.
