Welcome to the Forum.
As Dsle5403 mentioned, it could be the same type of issue that is mentioned in the link he provided. If it turns out to be that, I'll move your thread to that one.

My 2020 ST started giving me the same message this morning. It has been raining so I thought maybe camera was dirty. I cleaned but didn't resolve issue. If it doesn't resolve itself after a couple of restarts, I guess I'm heading to the dealer. 15,000 miles so far and I've had no issues to this point.

Hi, I have a 2020 ford explorer limited and the same thing is happening, some times the rear camera goes blue, I shutoff the vehicle then turn back on then camera starts to work. I have been to the ford dealer ship 3 times and they did not fix the problem. Pretty annoying having a new car and this kind of thing happening.

Did they replace the camera as per the recall mentioned in post #2? BTW, I just received a letter regarding the rearview camera and tells me to schedule an appointment to have Image Processing Module B reprogrammed. Recall 21C09.
Update: just spoke with my dealer's service advisor and apparently they have to order a new camera/parts. They will call back once parts arrive and schedule an appointment.

Peter

After my first dealer contact, they called me back and left a message to contact them and to say no parts were required. I returned the call at 2:15 pm and had an appointment for 3 pm. Updated the software as per recall 21C09 and I was out of there just before 4 o'clock. I turned down the free car wash as it is supposed to rain all weekend. The service manager said I could drop in anytime for the wash.

More often than not the backup camera screen turns blue. I received a recall notice in the mail and had my local Ford dealer perform the update....... 24 hours later it's still doing it. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I've seen where others had to have a new module installed along with the recall. That might be what you will need to have done. I haven't taken mine in so far.

Your threads was merged with this one on the same issue.
As mentioned, it could be the module or perhaps a camera replacement.

Peter

I have the same problem and had the camera replaced moths ago. The blue screen returned and the dealer and had the recall 21C09 done and a new module was installed and program returned. I have an appointment to replace the camera and program it in hopes this will fix the problem. This will make the third camera on the vehicle counting the one that came on it. Pretty bad also the reverse brake assist pops up when this happens. This thing has 34 different computers that talk to each other too much unproven tech.

UPDATE: Dealer installed a new camera and It appears to have cured the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.

2020 Ford Explorer Limited. I've been to the dealership twice and they've cleared error codes and sent me on my way. Several weeks later and the issue appears again. Took it back up to the dealer today and they talked to Ford. Ford asked them to replaced the imaging module, but now have to wait for the part. I'll report back after this part is replaced and let you know if it's resolved the problem once and for all.

^^Welcome to the Forum.
Just clearing the codes won't solve the problem as you found out., They are supposed to do a software update or replace the camera if that doesn't work. I was in for an oil change and winter tire install and the service manager said they had an outstanding recall for the camera. Even though I said that I haven't had any issues, I was told the work had to be done. The update was completed while the other work was being done.

Looking at the TSB, it appears to be for the Aviator. Perhaps that is why the update didn't work for you.

Thanks for the reply. They did not mention anything about replacing the camera, just the imaging module. Are you suggesting I should ask them about replacing the camera as well?

Wait and see if the new imaging module resolves the issue.

We received a call from the recall department at the local dealership for the blue screen of death. Took it in and had the update done and backing in our driveway we got the blue screen of death. Called them back and they told me that we would need the camera replaced and they couldn't schedule it or help us anymore, we had to call the dealership to schedule (great service). I have been offered more or about equal to what we paid two years ago, love the car but it isn't often you make money on a used vehicle after 2 years so we might make the change.

Update:
Scheduled service for yesterday to replace the cameras (post software update) and they say there were no codes, so nothing replaced.
They are now saying it is a software issue and replacing the cameras or module will not fix it and we have to wait on Ford. This is a GD clown show dealing with these 2020 Explorers now, isn't it?
