BMXking's Axle Swap 1st gen. Coils/Radius Arms!!!

Well, I finally decided to start a thread on it. For those of you who don't know, I will be doing a full-width swap. High-Pinion Dana 44 front and Ford 9" rear. I am still looking for the HP D44, but I picked up the 9" Monday. I have never really done a lot of work on axles, so this will definitely be a long process, but I have already done a lot of research about this(and am still learning a TON). Well here's a little update/carnage....went wheeling on Friday night. I was pulling out my buddie's Cherokee from a little creek. There was a lot of sand so my rear started to dig down pretty deep....as I was giving it some more gas to pull out of my ruts we heard a really loud pop. Driveshaft still turning, no tires moving though! Ended up getting winched out of my ruts to flat ground, pulling rear driveshaft and driving home 25 minutes in 4x4. It drove home surprisingly well ~45mph all the way home. Finally got it torn down today and found a crunched up cross shaft. Drove out to Summit Racing (their new store is awesome!!!!) and bought a new Summit mini spool and Summit chromoly cross shaft. $44 total. The cross shaft in there was still the stock mild steel one. :nono: Gonna finish reassembling the rear end tomorrow morning and then I'll start gathering parts for my 35 spline swap.

Nope. It's good now though. When I was using a chisel to get the pieces out of the carrier, they would cut into the stock cross shaft very easily. I used a punch to put in the new one and it didn't make any kind of mark on it at all. Should hold up MUCH better.

did you finally get the front geared ??? btw i foun d 37x12.5x16 PJ dirt grips for my yota :D

No not yet. I decided I'm just gonna go all out and lock it up the first time around. Can't decide on which locker I want though. Selectable for sure....the OX locker seems to be pretty damn tough and inexpensive in comparison to other selectables.

I hope you didn't "find" those tires at Robbie's house right?!? :D

ox locker is basically indestructable, plus you get a bulletproof diff cover as well.

Also no air lines to tear, compressor to fail, or soleniods/wiring to corrode.

nah....in-dash... you put tv's in the back and then people want you to drive all the time so they can watch tv... at least with an in-dash you can watch too.

I'll likely end up with the OX locker. Especially if I can get it through my shop.

The flip out headunit/back-up camera was supposed to be going in on Saturday afternoon but I hadn't even had a chance to tear apart the rear axle yet so I wasn't sure how expensive it would be to fix. It should be going in next weekend though.

Yes I can. In just a few days we'll be a dealer for just about any big offroad/audio company you can think of. We'll have the site setup soon and ppl can buy worldwide. ;)

wheres the pics with the new tires and such ??

no pics yet. i got it lengthened at driveline services in norcross or doraville.

Yeah, it's the one on the right that you get to before doraville driveline.

Here's some pics I found on my camerafrom right before I swapped out the tires and wheels.
