I just did a search on youtube on these mufflers...holy crap. They sound amazing on all these v8's...waht about v6's :)

They kind of remind me of SLP Loudmouths.

No kidding, I was just looking them up the other day actually.

Now I just wish I had money for a Cobra, a KB Blower, and Borla Mufflers :(

That's ridiculous(ly amazing, I'm jealous!)

Does anyone know what they compare to? Same as loud mouths? I want to try those on my explorer but they only sell as a kit...not as single mufflers

That is a sweet sound-no doubt. I wonder how much resonates into the cab-

Our trucks are especially prone to exhaust noise for some reason-I think it is because the trunk area-( or bed if it was a pickup) is also inside the cab. This allows quite a bit of the exhaust tone in-if you run a rear exit-
I find a behind the wheel exit cuts noise quite a bit.

I guess the reason I rambled on this is because I believe the sound, or most of it- is a combined result of not only the muffler-but also the design of the tips, and their placement ( distance from muffler)

I think with enough time and resources this could be duplicated on our trucks. Keep in mind though-
the 5.0 truck cam has much more "chop" to it's sound.

I've got 'em on my Mach...they sound absolutely perfect with a 4.6 DOHC motor.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

but but but JT, what about us 4.0'ers...what can we do to get that sound! Im looking for more of the fiberglass sound like my turbo, but louder but not raspy...My turbo sounds amazing...I want that sound only louder. I want something different over the flowmaster hollow sound

i did a youtube search for em on v6's. they sound pretty good but whats the difference in a mustang 3.8 or 4.0 and our 4.0's? i wonder if you look around enuogh on ebay maybe someone has a single muffler?

The difference is .2 of a liter. JK, but really, the 4.0 is much more reliable. More power…which the new mustang needs since its heavier. The new mustangs use the same motor explorers/rangers have been using since 98 I believe (the 4.0 SOHC…whenever that first got released).

Back to stingers, I was searching summit and saw a dynomax muffler that looks identical to the borla stingers. Its called Dynomax Ultra Flo Racing

I wonder if the internals are the same. Stingers/muffler above looks like just a hopped up glasspack. Im going to email both companies and see what they say

After further investigation into these mufflers, I found the following. This is getting very confusing if you ask me….

Per Summit:
Borla's stainless steel cat-back exhaust systems are backed by Borla's Million Mile warranty, and are dyno-tuned for specific applications. Smog-legal in all 50 states, these systems include stainless steel pipes, clamps, Borla's Turbo mufflers, and intercooled exhaust tips.

Take a close look at the mufflers on that page. Now a search on summit for “Borla Turbo” yields the following:

http://store.summitracing.com/egnse...alse&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&N=700+4294908331

Now Im sorry, but they look NOTHING alike, plus Ive never known any type of turbo muffler to sound like that. Im so confused and borla’s website doesn’t help much either.

Check out the Flo-Pro Twisters.

The last two sound clips. One is a Mustang & one is on a Prowler. They sound very similar to the Borla Stingers and are sold separate.

hmm.....i was pretty sold on a flowmaster but after hearing these, i think i like them as well

Hm after hearing the prowler...Im not so sure about these anymore lol. So far im sold on the turbo muffler...if only it could be louder. I LOVE me a flowmaster until it hits about 3k RPMS ...then it gets ricey. I want to do true dual but loss of backpressure. V6's can drive an exhaust enthusiest insane. Anyone want to trade their gas guzzling v8 for my v6? lol...not that the SOHC does any better on gas than a v8

Borla Stingers are considerably different than a turbo style muffler. They are closer to resonators, much higher flowing, and have a much nicer (IMHO) sound. Borla does make both types. In your link, the 1st one does show a stinger style setup, and the 2nd is the turbos...

....I didn't need to see this thread...

...I wonder how they would sound with my Borla Headers.....But $191 bucks....Are they lifetime guaranteed including off road hazard???
