So, I'm thinking of painting my calipers but I don't want to paint them on the vehicle. I want to take the calipers completely off the car and somehow plug all the holes so high heat spray paint cant damage the calipers.

From my understanding I'll need to plug up the brake lines as well otherwise they will drain the master. Then I would need to plug the holes on the calipers for reasons above. Then I would sand blast the calipers to prep them for paint. The use high heat paint. What is high enough? Is the up to 500 degrees enough? Then let them dry, followed by placing back on the car.

So I think that makes three questions:
How/what do I use to plug the calipers and the brake hoses?
How high do the temperature on the calipers get?
Am I missing anything?

1-aluminum foil, wooden dowel pins, wadded up paper, or plastic plugs.

2-I have powdercoated calipers with 400 degree cure powder

3-be sure to mask the surface where the brake pads slide on the caliper.

I'd probably just leave the caliper brake line connected, use a piece of wire to hang it out of the way, tape up a bunch of newspaper to protect the wheel well and stuff, and paint it without breaking the pressure system apart.( Taping everything off will take a lot less time than re installing all the lines and bleeding, plus you might just induce another problem if you do break the system apart. ABS module comes to mind)

You could remove the caliper bracket then, and paint it a different color. the machined surface where the bracket meets the knuckle should remain paint free also.

Okay so the parts that would need to remain unpainted would be the red things?
I didn't color the pistons and dust boots but those would need to remain unpainted.

Are these the correct locations?
I see your point about opening the system but I've read that it is important to flush the system every 30k miles. So should I just let them drain out and then place new fluid and breed in the normal fashion furthest working my way to the closets tire?
Or is doing that sorta pointless?
