I'm thinking about getting some new BFG AT's for the Explorer. It's got almost 50K on the stock michellens and they are getting worn. So I'm thinking about ordering new tires. It has 23570-R16 on there now. Can I fit 245s on there?
Thanks

Yep, I have 245/75/16's on mine.

I have 255/70/R16s on my 98

We have 245/75s on our '02 and it looks great. Not much power loss either.

Took it to the dealer for tranny problem, they flashed the computer for the larger tires(free of charge) and we were good to go!

My 2003 EB came with 245/65/17's which I just replaced for the first time.

I think 255s fit without any wheel rub, 265s might have some rub when turning...

I have 255/70/17 and they rub on a hard right or left turn. Not much though.

I think the conclusion was that the max tire size at stock ride height w/o rub is dependant on the individual vehicle. I know one member was running 275's @ stock.

It also depends on the tread pattern. Aggressive tread patterns typically have a wider stance and more tread on the leading edge than others. For example, Super Swamper Thornbird's.
