Trying to get down to the Camshaft Sensor and I can't get the upper intake off. The only thing that seems to be holding it on is this metal tube going straight down under the IAC (sorry the red arrow doesn't show up very well). This is on a 98 4.0 OHV engine.

How do I get this darn thing off?

its a pain in the a$$. i had to wiggle and wiggle and pull pry and wiggle and it came out. its not bolted on or held by anything but tight clearance in the manifold. i wouldn't use a hammer on it. just work it slow..

on and i "think" its the crankcase breather line been a few weeks since i tore it down for tmy s/c test fit.

You're not kidding. I've "broken the seal" but it's still hanging on there somehow. Guess I'll have to keep pulling and wiggling. Thanks for the help.

I had the exact same issue last week while trying to get my upper intake off. See this link for details: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145716

You need to remove the EGR, then the bolt holding the dipstick, then bend up the dipstick bracket and then take out the bolt holding the tube/bracket onto the exhaust manifold.

The only tough part after that is wiggeling the bracket thru the AC tubes, but it will fit. It may help to unbolt the AC condensor.

Good Luck
