Car Show to support last LAUSD auto shop

That's what I've been saying: Bring lifted vehicles, but they need to look the part, not just showing flex. Bring Mounties (Turdle), slammed Exs, rock crawlers, all gens, 4th gens too. Where did it say not to bring these vehicles?? Just know that your audience is not coming to see this display, so it better be something to "show" Go ahead and laugh, but two mods there asked the same questions - "Are they interested?" They will be if the atmosphere is correct - meaning the kids can relate to the owners, not just the vehicles -

Understood...

Donner, i go to UTI and believe me, theres alot of students in these auto schools that like lifted trucks.

I had the entire class around the 92 when i brought it in.

I have been encouraging bringing all levels and years of lifted Exs and Mounties... I'm saying the kids will be more interested in relating to the scene and the owners more so than the vehicles. If the kids admire you (us), they will admire the vehicles.

Donner - You sir, are one of the most *confusing posters on this forum. :)

Since flexing isn't enough, I'll put colored bulbs in my rock lights and a sticker on the back that says, "**Vatos Locos 4'ever!" ;)

*Not posted to be offensive.
**"Blood In, Blood Out" reference.

Confusing? I'm saying be there, but be a part of the show. That's it. You and IZ both asked if this is something the kids want - I say yes, but the presentation has to be correct. This would be a lot of fun :) I'd love to go... guayaveras, Reggaeton and rock crawlers, slammed, now that would get attention -

You know...I mite know someone with a Flashy Lifted Explorer/Rock Crawler...Just Maybe;)

:p:

They would love you! :)

I could put together a photo album on the buildup, and could show all the videos of us all off roading;)

And turn up the music as loud as he##! Snoop! And that would be something that attracts and holds their attention... From the minute your vehicle rolls on the scene, show moves from cars to "I never seen any sh#t like this!" (Just hope nobody from Ford shows up in a concept Ex :)

Bryan Adams vv or Mellencamp! :)

And rollovers! "WHOOPS"

I could put together a photo album on the buildup, and could show all the videos of us all off roading;)

..Just be sure to have a pic of my truck getting dirty..:D

...But I will be blasting Ray Wiley Hubbard or The Texas Tornado's..:p:

Good Morning All

Hello everyone. My name is Deanne, partner of Hall Ass "The Shop" and the lead person regarding the show. I want to thank Zukman (never did exchange names on the phone, sorry) for calling me yesterday. We had a pleasant talk regarding everyone bringing out their lifted vehicles. I myself have an expedition and my employee has an explorer. Not lifted or anything yet but we do have one - lol. I myself like all types of vehicles because I can appreciate the amount of blood, sweat and tears that goes into someone's baby. I want to touch on some points that I read in previous posts.

There is a lifted truck class, an underconstruction truck class, best engine and best suspension enginereering class as well that you all can compete in. Not to mention people's choice. The judges are people that I choose and feel that can do the best job. They will not be random people judging the best of classes.

The main reasons we are holding this show is for one to raise funds for the auto shop program, which is in real bad need of help - and to let the next generation of kids see a vast array of vehicles and not of one "type". We want to expose the next generation to different types of vehicles that people enjoy and build. We hope to get everyone to appreciate the amount of work that goes into these vehicles - even if it isn't their type of vehicle. Too many young kids these days just go for a certain type like "slammed trucks" and never give anything else the time of day. We want to teach them different. We need to get the next generation involved and support the last remaining auto shops out there because some kids aren't the typical "book smart" kids and they need hands on learning like my 14 yr old son. Without auto shop programs, where will the next generation of kids go to learn how to work on vehicles? Def. not in their apartment parking lots. Vehicles keep kids out of trouble and gives them something productive to do.

There isn't a lifted truck on the temp. flyer because I didn't have a picture that I could legally use. All those vehicles you see on the flyer as ones we have built, repaired or restored in one way or another and were good enough picture quality to use. The final artwork will be like those regular cool car show hand drawn designs.

As for loud systems, we are going to try and keep the levels down because we do have a live dj and a band that will be playing. Besides no one wants to miss the announcements for the raffles and other stuff planned.

If you want to bring rocks etc for a functional display, I will need to have the measurements and some sort of picture to run by Kmart and make sure I have the ok from them. I personally think it is a very cool idea. I will be over there taking photos, not to mention the other coverage taken. Both my sons are stoked at the idea that you may come out and show off your suspension. My 14 yr old has already been in magazines for his welding on the Redondo Beach Police Dept. Landspeed RX7 vehicle. He is "very" stoked :)

I want to say thank you to Zukman for contacting me. It was a pleasure to talk with you yesterday :)

If anyone has any questions feel free to email me at deanne@hallasstheshop.com

Can we ask questions here?

Sure :) I always give my email out just in case. Plus it is easier to send out the flyer & pre-reg form to people who want them.

Questions...

Thank you!

I know kids (and adults) like music... will there be times when we can turn up the volume a little just to help make the vehicle more attractive?

I also have a few expert techs in my area that wouldn't mind helping out... with how they create and modify vehicles. (I can email you about this)

Are flags and such appropriate to bring, say flags from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, etc?

Thank you!

Sure you can turn up the music to help with your display as long as it doesn't overpower any announcements and is family friendly. I really dislike it when people basically play ****o and gangsta type of music when little ones are near. Those little ones are like sponges and they pick up everything they hear - lol.

As for flags - those are ok as well. Anything that is needed for your display is cool as long as its family friendly and I won't get any complaints about it. Half naked chicks as apposed to fully naked - lol - just kidding. I hope you can understand where I am coming from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows people that may be interested as vendors, sponsors or just wants to donate either product or funds to the cause, please forward the information to them or have them get in touch with me :)

Thank you! Music will be family friendly :) and yes, these are impressionable youngsters that are doing the right thing. I will email you about potential sponsors/vendors - these are Off Road shops that customize - they would love to help. Thank you so much for your time! :)

No - THANK YOU! It will be people like you that make a difference at this show :)

And thank you for the leads on other vendors & help - every little bit makes a big difference.

Just printed out your Craigslist information... This should be fun! And there will be trophies?? Oh, is there any information on the 1st Street Show? Thanks!

Thats the back of the flyer with all the rest of the information.

Last year's show info with pictures is on www.myspace.com/hallasstheshopstreetshow - I think you do need an account to view the pictures, not sure. Last year's show was in Nov and just happened to have real bad weather so only 100 vehicles came out. We actually closed the street that our shop is located on down for the day. This year we will be too big for the street and I really dont want to go thru the hassle of shutting it down (and paying a $1500 permit fee) Kmart is donating most of their parking lot to the show for free - which saves the permit fees, port-a-potty fees, and food vendor health permit stuff. There is burger king, chile verde, a hawiian bbq, togos, baskin robbins, and a starbucks there. Even Kmart has food inside plus ez ups, chairs, and sunblock if anyone forget theirs :) All around much better than last year. Plus I am in total charge this year - lol :)

If you can't see the photos I will try and make a little video/slide show and post here - is that possible?
