Armorall Carpet and Upholstery cleaner, or pick up some of that Oxi-Clean stuff. I havent ever used the Oxi-Clean in the X because I try to keep it as clean as possible, but when I get grease or something in teh carpet the Armorall takes care of it, but everyone who has used the OC swears up and down that it is the best thing and it will take anything out.
I took mine to the car wash!! I put undercoating on the floor of my X after installing my flowmaster to cut down on the noise. After it was out we went to the car wash and my carpet looked new again. It took about an hour and a half to pull everthing out but I could do it next time in 45 min. tops.
I just used my Woman's Steam cleaner thing and that worked well.
However the best way I have found to clean it perfectly is to spray the whole floor with a mix of 50/50 water and 409. You don't even need that much 409 but I do it that way anyway. Make sure you get the carpet really wet and then any spots that look bad take a brush to and scrub them well. Then take a good old fashioned wet/dry vac and vacume it all up! It will usually clean out everything and get the carpet looking new again.
I use a vax carpet cleaning machine, its great sprays a solution of carpet cleaner and hot water onto carpet and sucks it out again in the same pass- I am always amazed at the amount of sand and grit and dirt that comes out.......I guess it must weigh some also if you let it build up!
just takes a day to dry out after a clean.
