Hey all , I want to get rid of my wheel well gaps... My brother is insisting that spring clamps will be a quick and easy trial to see what I might need to do with my wheel/tire set up. I dont know anything about spring clamps +/-?

went to the link and i see a picture of your truck. What do you mean by getting rid of your wheel well gaps? Putting bigger tires on without lifting the truck so they fill up the wheel well?

wheel well gaps

Yeah exactly I want to get the truck to sit down closer to the tires.

Oh ok, you're lowering the truck then. And you want to pre-compress the springs so that the truck sits lower and you can get an idea of tire clearance, right?

I guess you could rent a couple of spring compressor kits from the local auto parts store and use them to compress the springs of the struts while they are installed on the truck....that might work well enough to see how much tire clearance you have when the truck is sitting lower.

Many on here have installed lowering springs on their 3rd Gens. do a search I am sure you'll find pics. I have heard they lower the truck about 2 inches.

Yeah, get actual lowering springs. You don't want to cruise around with spring compressors on your truck. It's going to ride like **** and they really aren't meant for staying on.

Trayson had my favorite 3rd gen on this site. He's using the Ground Force Springs.

Oh I know, but I just wanted to throw that out there. :)

I remember in high school there were a couple guys that kept the compressors on there for their method of lowering, morons...

I would have loved to see one of those pop off while they drove down the road :D

Either get the lowering springs or remove your coils from the strut, cut the coil & re-install them.

Those clamps are a joke and will snap, You won't be happy. Don't heat the springs either, you will have a bouncy crappy ride.
