I was thinking about building my own center console for my 94 sport. Has anyone done this? I was thinking about adding a pistol safe to it or at least a lock. I also was thinking a screen on the back with a slight tilt up and a few switches in the front for lights and such. Any ideas on how to. I was thinking thin MDF and speaker box carpet. I have never done fiberglass and I am kind of a perfectionest so trying something new will just frustrate me. Thanks in advance.

I have a friend who made one out of MDF and then covered it in a cheap leather like material. He just stretched the material over it and stapled it in place from the bottom. He used a basic cabinet lock from Lowes to secure valuables.
I'm about to start on one for myself. I want 2 cup holders big enough for Nalgenes.

Thanks for the info that really helps. I have already begun!

I have 6 switches on my centre concole lid.
Looks kinda cool wthe arm rest to reveil bright red switches underneath, they are as follows

- Run1 (Ignition coil, alternator, Blower)
-Run2 ( Windows, Wipers..)
-Start (Crank)
-Stereo
-Lights
-Power Inverter
