I was wondering around youtube and google when i stumbled onto LED interior lights for rangers. Now i saw a kid replace his lights with LEDS but then he did something that surprised me. he made the lights go with the sound of the sounds. I was just wondering 2 things

Anyone know how to make a multi-color dome light, and a color flashing light strip that goes with a song?? Only thing with the song is that i wouldnt want it to always flash just if i flip a switch.

Do you want to wire it directly into your speaker wires? (easiest way) Or do you want to make something that stands alone? Are you looking for something that cycles through different colors? (FAR MORE COMPLICATED, especially if you want different colors for different levels) Or do you just want it to pulse with the noise?

I did a quick picture diagram of how you would make a simple circuit that fades brighter with loud music for you also. You will need LEDs and resistors to make your array (or a 12 volt LED plug and play bulb), a TIP 31 transistor (this is a solid state relay you can get from any radio shack), and wire. If you have questions about this diagram, feel free to ask. This is how most of the simple fading LEDs you see attached to speakers are made. You may also want to consider adding a 12 volt regulator on the incoming power, just so that your LEDs last longer and you have more consistent results. For the purposes of this diagram, I just did 3 3.2 volt 30mA LEDs in series with a 150 ohm resistor to run on 13.2-13.6 volts, since I am assuming an automotive power source that is not regulated. A 120 ohm resistor would probably be fine too, and is probably what most people would use.

Note, this is not to accurate scale since I just drew all the basic components quick and never measured, and this can be arranged in any way you want as long as you follow the basic design.

Thanks dude its working out nicely. :) I'll upload a pic sometime soon of the finish product when i get a chance

Wow, you got that done in no time! Congratulations. I have to drive 26 miles on the highway to go to radio shack. :D

Living in a city like mine i have a radioshack, lowes, homedepo, autozone, advance auto parts, and tuner city thats about 1 min away :). Plus i had some help from my dad that is an old car mechanic but was too lazy to help design it with me. now hes trying to design it for his minivan haha
