Custom Upper A-Arms

I just hit him up, he'll get back to me within 30 minutes or so.
Im actually kinda anxious to get my ex back up and on the road, been without it for a month or so now lol. The bulk of the work will be done next week, hopefully the damn steering rack comes out easily...

Yeah, but i'm wondering, if i'm gonna spend 3grand after axleshafts and steering, why not a dana 60.....

So is that explorerspeed project a no go? And i thought the blazer was the wife's.

A-arms are done. Here are some basic pictures sorry for the crappy quality, my camera took a crap on me. All i can say is these things are nice. Once the front end is back together ill get more pics of them installed.

Nice Sean, I hope it all goes back together fine. Hopefully I can make time to do my front suspension in a couple of days.

I thought you were going to return your truck to stock form and sell it. Those arms do look nice though.

My promotion was postponed until march. I am gonna keep the explorer so i can still hit some trails and have fun with it. Im not done building it yet either, still have front shocks, and then rear springs/shocks.

Arms look great!Does your boy do coilover conversions as well?If so how much $$???

It seems Don (CDW) is already thinking of the same thing as me.

I'd like to lower my 2wd X and keep some good suspension geometry, and in-fact, I'm intending to do a coilover setup or airbags.

Don seems to be planning to use these arms on his stock/lowered X, have we confirmed they'll work for that application?

The price seems like a steal compared to some quotes I've gotten. If these arms won't work in a lowered 2wd application, would your buddy be willing/able to build some that would work? I live in Southern Cali, so I could bring the truck by if measurements etc. are required! :-)

the arms shouldn't affect geometry, they're not extended or shortened at all and they're just built for more strength so sean doesn't have to sideline his explorer again...they're the same length as a stock arm just a stronger tube version..and yeah brandon(the fabricator that built the arms) would be able to do a coilover setup as well as arms for you..he's easy going and i'm sure if you went to see him he would work out something fair...

Ahh IC.. I clearly didn't read carefully enough. I just always equate "custom a-arms" with "improved geometry a-arms".

I guess the real benefit for these is strength and the ability to use the better/higher angle balljoints?

Is Brandon's contact info in this thread somewhere? I have to admit I only briefly scanned it, rather than reading in detail.

EDIT: Okay, I got off my lazy butt and figured out who Brandon was. I'll PM him. :-)

yeah..i don't know if he frequents this site too often..but you could definately reach him on www.dezertrangers.com he has the same screen name over there..or you could pm me or sean(carlover) and we'll give you his number

They dont change the suspension geometry, however they are offset a little more than stock for better straight line stability and cornering. Im not sure on exact specs or anything but im sure Brandon can explain everything better than i can lol...

Hey Guys: Like Ryan said, i'm not on here that much...the arms should be fine for a lowered application, but if you're local, you can always stop by & we can take some measurements.

Also, like Sean said, the arms have a bit more positive caster built into them so they will be more stable in a straight line, and it helps bite into the corners better, too.

I shall finish my 98 truck and see how the new parts and Bilstein shocks make the ride. If it is as rough as it has been, or close, I'll watch carefully to others with the coil over shocks and 4WD/AWD. Regards,
