...I wasn't drunk just exhausted, although I'm sure the couple of drinks i had added to my exhaustion...
7.ya it's costing me a fortune for probation and DnD classes and all...

hmmm...probation....DD classes.....wrecked X....nope - not drunk. I'm sorry, I have a hard time feeling compasionate for anyone that drives intoxicated, then brags about in via screen name.

I'm on the AADD team. Airmen Against Drunk Driving. I happily drive anyone home that needs a ride. I threaten any of my guys that their life will be a living hell if they are ever driving under the influence. The end of their career is the least of their concern.

Lay off @sshole, people make mistakes. I am an 18 years old and even I am not this big of a jerk, he made a mistake, regrets it and is dealing with it. Besides he isn't an esteemed airmen like yourself and your crew SO GET OFF HIS DAMN BACK!

Also, keep us posted on how the project is coming along, I'm in AZ so I can't offer much assistance but I am curious to see how this repair job goes. Good luck with it.

By the way what are you looking to do with this truck, street/performance, offroad, or what?

Alright, that's not cool. I suggest you don't talk to anyone like that again. This is a board for posting opinions, susgestions, and comments. Not to yell at or cuss in various way to others.

My point of posting is Driving under the influence has no place in any society. Don't feel sorry for someone in that situation. I appreciate he is paying his dues and hopefully it won't happen again.

haha, thanks for the support, I am an ass, I know I made a msitake, beleive me I've been going dealing with the drama for over a year now.

My game plan is to restore the truck, then maybe some lift kits and what not. nothing too insane as I'll be using this vehicle for basic driving, city driving, work(field service), etc
I'll keep everyone uptodate as much as possible, just gotta figure out how to put the video on the comp

Im not arguing anyones opinion on drinking and driving but the guy made a mistake (read the thread title) and I think he knows it. My point here is I dont think he started the thread to get opinions on drinking and driving. I think he started it to explain his situation, be part of the forum and get help on rebuilding his truck.

My replys were in fact to others that replied feeling sorry for him. I don't feel sorry for him, neither should you. Good luck on the rebuild. There's lots of info in lots of brains here. DWI, you are more then welcome to ask any questions, anytime.

Redrig, would you still be compsionate if that pole would have been your family? Again, I am glad he is being responsible.

Pissant ought to learn to be respectful. I will not loose any sleep from flaming. Nice try. I will not loose any sleep knowing that if one person is responsible and asks for a ride home instead of being an idiot then it was a good day.

I hope you learned your lesson.. driving under the influence is dangerous.. There are too many penalties involved with drinking & driving like losing a license, increase in points, higher insurance, etc.. I know a good friend who was slightly under the influence when he hit someone and killed the person.. He was found guilty of manslaughter and had to serve 18 month sentence.. He was lucky but to this day he realizes he took someone's father/son/brother away.

I'm glad this guy is able to get flamed by Rob, yet I defend this guy because I believe he knows what he did and I get sent private messages about violating forum rules. This seems very hypocritical and distasteful. I mean no disrespect towars the Air Force and of course typical excessive Patriotism is going to trying and make me look like I am anti-military and government services.

I feel that respect would be not putting public citizens lower than your airforce men by saying "well if you were one of my airforce boys I woulda blah blah blah..."
Sorry if I offended you, but once again, don't ban me and play favorites because you dislike my comments when I used the word jerk and "@#######" and a previous user used the word "Dumb@ass." Thank you for the chance of recognizing all as equals.

"I will only ask you once to not yell at me and cuss on the forum. You are in direct violation of the forum rules. Flaming is not tolerated. Learn a little respect. Do not throw in my face any negative comments about the Air Force. My brothers, sisters, and fore fathers have died giving you the freedom to say what you want. Don't take it for granted."

NOTAJP, I didnt mean that directly towards you. I know you and others are replying to posts off topic, But thats my point. I dont think he wants to hear opinions on his drinking and driving. I was just trying to get posts back on topic to try and get him some help with the truck. I wasnt taking up for him for drinking and driving. Next time ill keep my opinion to myself. :)

Not once have I, or would I ever put a public citizen below myself. Every citizen of the US is why I have a paycheck to begin with. I never said "if he was one of my Air Force boys would I blah blah blah. Understand what you are saying will be the key. "...and of course typical excessive Patriotism..." Never once has my career ever been put above any person or idea.

I pray everyday that DWI's title, picture and story take heed to anyone that has considered a questionable driving limit hits home and that someone doesn't have to pay the ultimate price.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and count to ten....feel better now:) . This thread has managed to get off topic an turn into a battle that belongs in another place here. If you guys want to continue to debate drunk driving and DUI's take it there. This forum is for questions regarding Under hood stuff and Drivetrain.

Apologies seem to have been made for things that were said in anger, hopefully you meant them, if this gets out of hand again it is gone. Some of you also need to refresh your memories with the forum rules, they are located at the bottom of the main forum list.

Dip anyone? :)

Good luck with your restoration(s) DWI, both on your truck and life. Both will be pricey and something to learn from in many forms.

Despite what it seems, this is a great place to get help on a variety of topics, sometimes chairs and whips have to be brought out, but the show must go on.

Help him rebuild? Sure anyway I can.But feel sorry for him or forget about what he did I don't think so.Be polite?Of course. But there is no excuse for drunk driving could"ve called a cab,a freind,or walked.I've done all of these except drink and drive. I've spent a total of 6 mths not walking,5 wks in various hospitals,2 surgeries, and over $6,000 of my money and over$100,000 of my medical insurance companies money on getting better, not to mention my lost wages,or time lost playing with my kids, none of which I'll ever get back. The drunk that hit me had no insurance, license,or even a tag on his car. and he's been out walking and working for about 4mths now.So no pity or sympathy from me.And as for having to spend money on dnd classes, court fees, and whatnot I say it is not enough,Drunk drivers should not get off so easy. My opinion is mine, and you can have yours just don't ask me to accept it or agree with it.

**Sigh** thsi has goten out of hand, I didn't mean for this to become about how my truck got smashed, that was suppossed to just be a quick background to the how it was suppossed to be aphoto essay on the actual project of bringing the truck back from the dead

anywayz, no there is no excuse, no i shall not repeat, I'm not whining i know I got off easy and thankfully no one other than myself was hurt. so please no more about the DWI, let's just talk about the truck itself.

I'm really looking for photos of the same truck or similar, under the hood , under the vehicle, parts, etc etc
