Any update on why it was removed?

Bothered me when I went from 12 Limited to 14 Sport.

I'm over it but I'm curious why useful feature was removed.

I'm so glad that I have found this forum because I have been wondering the same thing and it has been driving me CRAZY!!!

My friend has the same year and model as me and her car has it.
I called my dealership, they told me I should have it!

Ford even pictures it on their 2014 Ford Explorer Limited Page
http://www.ford.com/suvs/explorer/2014/trim/limited/

So what gives??? I don't know what to believe anymore

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say your friend has it. If you're referring to the Climate option being removed, I assume it was because someone determined it was necessary to have it there. I never used it myself. My climate is always on 'Auto' and I use the voice commands to change temps etc. As the IVT rep mentioned in an earlier post, the Climate option in the right information display was removed in the later 2013 models and all 2014 ones.

By friend I was meaning my friends vehicle, which is the same exact model and model year. I find it interesting that their explorer has it and mine does, especially considering they were built within a week of eachother.

In addition to the climate being gone, the screens to the left and the right of the speedometer look totally different, they are missing the small icons that represent the available features. The text messages also "pop up" on the right screen on their vehicle. Not mine.

Although I don't have the Explorer, I do have a 2014 Lincoln and the MFT etc is the same. There are no icons in either the Left or Right Information Displays.
You can't always go with the pictures on the Ford online site. They commonly use pictures from previous models. If your friend has a 2014 Explorer, there should not be a 'Climate' setting. If there is then either there was a mix-up in the software that was installed or they have an early 2013 model.
These are what I have on mine. The last one was what I had in the 2011 Ex.

Yes your photos are the same as what I have. The last photo that you posted from your 2011 is what she has in her 2014. Dealership has said that I should have what is pictured in your last photo, however, Ford rep has confirmed that it has been removed. It's all very confusing.

The older interface, seemed to have been a lot better in my opinon

That is strange in deed about your friend having the old setup. As far as what the dealer told you, he is obviously wrong. Dealer, unfortunately, are not always up to date on the changes made to the vehicles. I would guess that a mid model change could be even more confusing.

My 2011 Edge had the climate in the cluster and I used it from time to time. I liked having it. I just traded my Edge in for a 2014 Explorer and was surprised not to see it in the cluster. Normally, I have my nav displayed in the cluster while the entertainment is on the big screen. If only Ford would display the tile of song and the artist in the cluster instead of "bluetooth audio streaming detected" then I would put the map on the big screen. It certainly seems like this wouldn't be all that difficult to do and sure would be nice.

There have been a few members wondering why Ford decided to remove 'Climate' from the right information display. Perhaps many were like me and never used it there.:dunno:
It could be helpful in answering future concerns you may have if you added the model of your Explorer to your profile so it appears in the margin of your posts.

Just traded in my 2011 for a 2015 Sport. I have less then 100 miles on it and while driving to work this morning I went to adjust the temp from the steering wheel and the option was gone. I was shocked like am I doing something wrong here. My 2011 had the feature and it was the primary way I adjusted my temp and fan speed. WTF..... But I sure do Love the sport so far besides that.

My Ford Touch Climate Option Deleted

Hey Guys, why did Ford remove the option to control the climate from the steering wheel on the right informational gauge? I have it on My 2013 and I like having the 4 options of audio, navi, phone, and climate. I've been looking at the newer models and Ford removed them. Why?

Yes, removed. No good reason given.

I agree with you, no answer ever given.

I also noticed that they removed the screen memory feature on the left screen. I used to be able to scroll up and down through the different areas without backing out to the main options. If it's still there, I can't find it. On more thing I noticed is that the gallons used is gone in the trip meter.

I'm coming from a 2012 Edge to 15 Ex Sport. I noticed these were missing because I used to leave it sent on the fuel economy screen and then hit the up button to go to the trip meter when I'd get gas to get a good idea how many gallon I would be putting in.

My 2011 F-150 had all of that too. You're not the only one missing that stuff.

I never used the option for climate control. I never use the voice control either. Just faster for me to use the buttons and touch screen.

Peter? Is that you?

No, not this time. I never did use the Climate setting in the cluster but I do use the voice commands to set climate, radio and navigation.;)

Peter? Is that you?

LOL - no, just someone that knows most of the keyboard shortcuts for Excel and Windows. :D

If there is a more efficient way to do things, that's the route I like to choose.

I hate the climate system controls in my 202A XLT. One of the positives I saw to the XLT over a limited was a knob control of fan speed. But, the fan is so slow to react to changes it might as well have been a push button.

I miss the old days when knobs controlled vent choices, air speed and temperature - it was quick and easy. Maybe I'm just old...
