Replaced the battery after it was being drained daily and causing the vehicle to die. The alternator sounds to be the problem, but had it tested when the battery died and it was charging ok. So, is this a common problem? - any suggestions are welcomed/over 100k miles on this EB edition & getting tired of pouring money into a black hole trying to find the problem - recently changed the starter too, but not sure if this was related.
Update: Auto mechanic has indicated that the alternator does need to be replaced, but the passenger door switch/controls the dome light is the primary problem since it is not turning off and is resulting in the battery being drained. I should also note that there was a repair on the driver seat recently and the reinstallation resulted in a problem with the electrical operation of the seat, so it would appear that this could have been reinstalled incorrectly and this could be the reason for the drain on the battery.
Sorry for all of these issues, but just wondering if other Ford Explorer owners/mechanics have had similar experiences since this forum does seem to include other Explorer owners with electrical issues that are difficult to diagnose and correct.
