Engine hesitation

The '08 Edge we traded in was really bad. Bad enough you didn't want to try to rush out into traffic or do anything that required instant power. This was the main reason we traded it in as a matter of fact. Our '11 Explorer is WAY better.

There is still some lag, but I drive a manual transmission truck most days and the throttle response is instant. Usually I notice it most when taking off from a dead stop. On the highway passing people, it's feels fine. My wife, who drives the Explorer most of the time, doesn't notice the lag.

I've notice that too, but my old vehicle (1997 F-150) was a V8, so I'm assuming that's part of my problem. After the delay though, she does get up there pretty darn fast. I'm thinking down the line, I'll get use to that part of it. It doesn't do it every time though.

What he said. It's on all cars to some degree or another. My Mustang GT had the same "rubber band" throttle until I reflashed it with the Predator Tuner.
I wish they'd make one for the Explorer. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
