F150 Coil Seats Install and Shackles for TTB suspension based platforms

Hey all some quick questions

a few weeks ago i did my install of course the tires pointed in no big deal went to my shop had it there for a week theyt had to put new upper and lower balljoints and new cambers and all sorts but its done. I went out wheeling a week or 2 ago and i wacked my alignment out 2 inches they said well you could see the tires in again. But anyhow i was talking to another driver that claimed he had 5 sploders but now he has a jeep. But he was telling me if i put a good Drop Basket on my front axle it would correct my caster.. Im just looking for more info on that Would it be a good ida?

My sploder is stock but the f150 coil seats and tires and rims

Well if anyone can help me out thanks

Dennis

...Drop Brackets would be used if you went 2" or higher...With the F150 coil seats you are only going up about 1 1/2"...If you do a full lift above 2" you wheel need a bunch of parts as radius arms, pitman arm, drop brackets, coils, etc...

...I've beat on mine and broke parts, whacked the alignment a little bit but not like you are stating...:dunno:

OH OKAY

Great well i did take it back to the shop and i have been wheeling it after i got it realigned and everything is okay now. But i was just wondering about that camber info thanks tbars.

...I'm not sure what you are asking???....Besides probably being warn out, that is why you had new camber bushings installed...Once your truck is aligned it is perfect as can be, stock or not with the f150 coil seats...

..You can wack your alignment on any vehicle hitting a curb, that is why your front end is adjustable...My front end has smacked a bunch of rocks and it now pulls a little to the right and needs an alignment...I'm not sure if breaking the bolt on the front stabiliser bar has anything to do with it though, lol..

...Most of the guys who go wheeling find a place that offer lifetime alignment's for about $79 bucks,,,I hope this helps...:D

Questions! :p:

Can anybody give me an idea of about how long this will take?
I currently have a 4" suspension lift, I don't offroad so I'll be fine with the 4" shocks correct?
Will anything need to be extended or replaced?
And this should give me enough room to run 35s correct? I know I'll probably have to trim a little bit, currently I can fit 33x12.5s with no rubbing.

...Read post #84...That should answer your questions...;)

Can we only change the coil spring with other that have 2 inch more higher without putting coil spacers?

...Yes you can...As mentioned before, this will put you out of range for an alignment unless you also add axle pivot brackets...Those and 2" over coils are a standard front end lift...

...The f150 coil seats saves you that headache and is cheaper mod...The f150 coil seats are also used when your new coils sag an inch or more...

Question, I'm thinking of doing this lift but I wanted to know how I can check if I'm going to need new camber bushings for alignment afterwards. Is there any way to check to see if mine will be able to cut it or not, or do I just have to go for it and pray? I've got a mechanic im good buds with who will do the alignment at his shop for basically free, but if I'm gonna be needing the bushings it adjusts my budget some =/

Unless you already have the big 2-1/2 degree bushings. If you don't, you need to add new bushings to the budget because nine out of ten, you are going to need them. Ask you buddy if he has some lying around his shop. Some places save them and use them in other vehicles, its not like they wear out.

Well, you were right, the dealer did not have them. And, the price has gone up to a little over $50.00 for the pair. I spent a few hours driving around town, and found them at AutoFab in Santucky (Santee). Picked up a set for $40.00. They have all different size coil seats, and custom engine mounts, transmission mounts, and they build custom off road racing trucks. Should have it all installed by this weekend.

Just made a trip out there today. Picked up a set for $30 :D and almost got a free cat!

He also has the bumper I want for the SD there; too bad I don't have the cash for it.:(

Hey i bought a 4"lift and im wondering if i can put my lift on and add both of these mods? will it work okay ? if so i will have a nice 6" lift for basicly the cost of my 4" because i can get the spacers from the junkyard and my father is a certified welder who can make me extended brackets. thanks

what year should i order the coil over seats for?

...They are coil seats, not "coil over seats"...You can find the part numbers, prices, and who to order them from in the first post...;)

they have went up on price from ford the left side is like 25 dollars more than the right i just priced them out today total its almost 60 dollars

Call around to all your local fabrication / off-road shops. They should have them from taking them off of other trucks.

...In the first post, under "Parts Update" in red, one of our own vendors carries them and at a very good price...:D

...He is already an Explorer Forum vendor....That's why the price is so cheap compared to everywhere else...;)

...You might email him with a link to this thread, he may have an additional discount...:dunno:
