All I can say is Wow:eek: And thanks a ton James. It's much appreciated. Jon, Eric you were right. This is just what I needed to unlock my trucks hidden potential. Not to mention how my Tranny shifts. If your 5.0 doesn't have one I STRONGLY recommend getting one. I got the 89,91 performance and 91 towing tune(Haven't tried either premium yet). A few quick questions. I know this is a performance tune but just wanna double check. Is it safe for my motor to be touching 5600 rpms when I shift? Is it going to damage my motor in any way? Also....dang it I just lost my thought for my second question. I'll post it once it comes back!!

Oh yea. Fuel Economy. Since all my tunes are 89 and higher performance tunes. Will my mileage be worse, better, or the same(Keeping me foot out of it). Or should I switch it back to stock?

Like it do you?;)

I'd be inclined to use the performance tune on the highway-with a very easy foot. Heck, now you have the tool to see for yourself. I'd try it both ways and see.

Most people say that the 89 octane gas gives the best cost per mile when tuned right. The better gas saves you more money than it costs you. The improvements are more for a higher compression engine. It may be even better for the premium gas for you if the engine has enough compression.

I suggest that you test the 89 octane tune against the premium tunes. Go through several tanks of gas to test it properly, and do the math to see which costs less.

Those engines and transmissions do fine with up to about 6000rpm, keep good fluid in them. Regards,

The Reason I asked because I was reading Storlied's thread on his tuner. People were trying to say something like the valves couldn't handle much over 5500 rpms or something similar. But I'll definitely have to try this out. I'm not sure what the compression is for my motor??

It's the valve springs you need to worry about. These things have a heavy valve train and the springs weaken over time. But if it's pulling hard all the way to 5600, then you're fine. I switched to an E303 cam and used the springs that came on the AFR heads along with 1.7 roller rockers and that thing pulled HARD through 6000.

I'm glad your happy with it. I wouldn't worry about the high rpm's James has always said he keeps a little bit out of them to make sure they're safe and you won't hurt anything. As far as the gas mileage goes it's about the same in town for me with the stock tune, or 91 performance tune. But I do get a little big better mileage using the stock tune on the highway, but it's usually only about 1-2mpg, and I'm willing to give that up for the extra passing power if I need it.

Ok I noticed at times when I accelerate I'll notice it sounds like the accelerating stops even though I'm still gaining speed then I look at the tachmeter and its like its stuck at 3900 and won't go higher even though Im going faster and faster. It's like it sticks or something . Anyone has have this issue?

Could be you are seeing your torque converter working.

Ditto!

During my everyday commute I enter the freeway on a steady uphill grade. With mid-throttle my engine speed usually stays around 3000rpm although the speed is progressively increasing.

That's how a torque converter works when it's unlocked!

Does it then start climbing again? Could be you are seeing your torque converter working.

That explains why it happens in my 03.... Learn something new everyday :D.

That is true about the TC, but it is an odd feeling. I prefer to use more or less throttle to make the trans shift, just to avoid that.

yES. Normally when it happened I'd let off it and wait til I was at a shift point then hit it again then it would go all the way up to 5600 rpms again!

i do the same thing. But this + Throttle by Wire in the 3rd/4th gens = really really annoying.

Sounds good man!

Thanks! More videos to come. I love this new camera!

Wow, so even the transmission shifts were changed. Does it feel that it shift faster or stronger

Both and please remember that acceleration was up hill onto an entrance ramp not flat ground. I'll try to get some open flat road acceleration.
