Flat bed?

Has anyone cut out the “cargo” area of their Explorer & made a flat bed? I am trying to come up with a way to get rid of the rubbing in the rear. The stock sheet metal/wheel wells need to go!

The back was toast, and we could not fit 35's on without cutting, so just kept cutting. The body and frame no longer live, but the drivetrain of it went into the Navajo I'm building.

Is it rubbing on the inner fenders? My 35" tires hardly ever rub the inner fender, and then only when its really dropped on one side and stuffed on the other, but I am also not jumping mine intentionally.

You could just follow the rear edge of the B pillar down to the floor, then cut out the rest. Make a flat bed out of tube to keep a little structure back there.

Yeah, the it rubs the inner & upper portion of the fender. Some lift would probably help me, but bottoming out is bottoming out no matter how high you started!

Maybe just tube the fender wells with a old wash tub cut in half?
