replace my stock fogs with aftermarket ones, so i just cut the ends of the stock harness off and wired it to the aftermarket lights, this way they come on with my factory switch, now they worked for like an hour i turned car off and they wouldnt come back on, not even the little yellow light that lights up on the switch worked, im thinking i shorted out the switch but wasnt sure...can anyone confirm this or that it will happen

check to see if the fuse blew, I don't remember which one it was but it is in the fuse box in the engine compartment. I think its a 15 amp

You may have used high wattage fogs. Anything like that?

check to see if your daylights are working, if not its the fuse. Also make sure you didn't accidentally turn on your high beams, i did that and thought my fogs weren't working, till i realized. good luck

thanks for all the help guys, but mustang solved it for me i didnt know there was a fuse for the fogs under the hood, thought it was just on driver side dash...prob solved thanks again

Now, let's find out WHY it blew the fuse.

Good call Cobraguy! I was going to ask that ^^ but figured since none of the other questions were answered, we'll just wait until it happens again. Problem is not solved.

Your right guys problem is not solved it keeps blowing the 15 amp fuse under hood, but what i dont understand is, that the fogs come with a 15 amp fuse in the wiring if u were gonna wire um seperately to there own switch....i also tried to put a 20 amp in replace of 15 and it still blew it..now the 15 amp fuse under hood is the small tiny one, and the one that comes with the lights is a normal size 15...i dont think that makes a difference though...i cant figure out whats going on, i was gonna wire um to my parking lights so they come on with them but im afraid ill blow the fuse for them 2

We were waiting :) I had it happen to me too. So, please detail your set up. How is it hooked up; what wattage lights are you using; and how come you have a double fused line?

The setup is, i removed my stock fogs, cut the connectors off of the wires that are coming from truck, then i just took the aftermarket lights and wired um right to the fog light wires coming from car....it doesnt say anywhere on box or anything what wattage new lights are but im pretty sure they are 55w it says do not exceed 55w for can cause serious damage so i imagine they are 55w....and i dont have a double fused line, the aftermarket lights came with there own wiring and switch, i didnt wanna do it like that...i was just saying that the wiring that came with lights has a reg size 15 amp fuse in it....i didnt know if that made a difference to the little 15 amp one under hood...they are both the same strongness no?

overpowering the stock hook up...

From my experience, which is new, the wattage is too high. You can add high intensity bulbs to your existing fog lights and have more light with less wattage. If you want to add fog lights, add them apart from your stocks...

These are 55s - two sets. If you don't want additional lights all over, go with the high intensity. Search HID and you'll find WhiteLimited's, nice!

Thanks for the help donner but i replaced the stock fogs cause the mounting pieces on um broke off from them being rusted and all....so if anything ill just wire my new fogs with the wiring they came with i wont use the stock..

Good deal! Check out the lighting forum. You might be able to use your stock switch for your new lights (there's always a safer way around things).
