Ford Explorer : bad design?

I have 12k miles on mine in less than a year and I, like Peter, am having very few problems. I love driving it - it's a great looking vehicle and has a lot of great features. I drive around 40 miles/day in it.

Thanks for reporting in with significant mileage. I've test driven a 2012 and also find it to be one of the best-looking SUVs for any price.

I have about 15k on my Explorer and I've had it for 14 months. Had some minor issues but all have been fixed and so far, so good.

It's "certified", so take it back. They sold you a lemon. You paid good money for the vehicle and now they expect you to diagnose all of its problems and fix them one by one while you take numerous trips back and forth to the dealer. Bring your lawyer with you next time, or have him write a letter.

In her post Debbie mentioned that she no longer has the Ex and now drives an Edge.

I shouldnt jinx myself, but I've had very few problems(12+k miles). Now I get the intermittent wipe, but have not brought it in for TSB. I don't use much of the "hi tech" Sync stuff such as Ipod, and have never gotten a black screen and never pulled a fuse. Did I get a good one? I'm a little reluctant to do the MFT/Sync update because everything seems to work for me, maybe a little slow. Previously I had an '09 Enclave and had bunches of problems in 50k miles. Everytime I brought it in they replaced the bad part with the "new improved" part. It appears very few people are having issues with the new update, so I guess I'll do the install when I get the stick.
