i want to replace my front map lights but i can't find the bulb anywhere. is this a special bulb or something. i have not seen anything like it. it plugs into a base like normal but the bulb has 2 wires coming out of the bottom of it like an LED (it's not an LED btw) and then they loop over either side of the connector. it looks like an oversized 194 but with these wires (thin metal leads) sticking out the bottom.

every web site i have looked at for bulbs - super bright led's for example - don't show anything that look like this.

anyone out there have any ideas or can at least make sense of what i am saying?

Your in alberta, So I would go to Canadian tire
They will have your 01 in there computer
With a list of all the lights it takes
Id assume they would list it there and show you were it is

If you want to do something more advanced
Check this LED mod out, It may take a few alterations
But It would work Id assume

so canadian tire was no help. what their books say and what i have are completely different. gonna call the dealer tomorrow. does anyone know if it should be a bulb on its own or if the bulb and the holder are all one assembly?

The sockets in the overhead lights are different then the ones inside the dash. The sockets inside the dash have a 194 bulb that can easily be removed so don't worry about doing that. The bulbs in the over head lights are if If i remember correctly 168 bulbs. However the 2 leads for the bulb are actually tack welded to metal contacts on the back side of the bulb socket. When I replaced mine I just clipped the welded on wires from the old bulb and put in a 168 bulb (actually a Plug and Play LED), and soldered the wires to the back of the bulb socket. Never had to get new sockets. But Yes, the job was a pita. That's why I made my own LED boards on the 2nd go around.

Hope It helps

every bulb i try and plug in breaks the glass on the bottom. i'm gonna try some p&p led's cause they are probably more durable than the glass. i'll keep you up to date and if it does not work...may need to make some boards.

thanks ryan
