Getting ready to lift. Quick questions

So looking closer at it, it seems that the hose and the block are one piece. So that would mean I would need a new block. What are the fittings of the hard lines on the axle? It looks like I might be able to get a new block from Holley as well

Okay I figured this out. I ended up getting a block with 3 ports that are 3/8 24 I.F. from Holley. Then I also ended up getting a different rear line instead of the stainless one I recently purchased. The new one is from a 1970 Jeep J 2500. It has 3/8 24 I.F. fittings on either end (one male and one female) and is 24" long. These should show up by the end of the week.

Thanks again for your help guys

So you should have all new lines in back -- that's always good, I once almost got stranded when a rear line gave on me overnight at a remote campsite. I'll keep your solution in mind if (when, haha) I lift that much. I doubt I'll have a length problem with only 1.5"-2" lift, but you never know.

On my lift, I've POR15'ed my rear frame and spring perch areas top and bottom, but I'm still having problems with front rear leaf eye bushings on these OME36 springs. I may have to break down and just buy the 01-02 Sport Trac front leaf eye bushings ($25 each, and i'll need two) if I can't get my fabbed bushing sleeve to press in.

So I'm preparing to lift my 93 Sport as soon as December. I will be using the James Duff 2.5" Stage 2 kit. The kit comes with lift shackles, but I don't like the idea of using them. I would rather use lift leaf springs.

So, I've heard of the OME 36 (or CS042R) but just need to confirm that they will give me somewhere in the neighborhood of the 2.5" I'm doing.

Then do the leaf springs come with new bushings or do I need to purchase those separately?

Anything else I need to get for the leaf springs that doesn't already come in the Duff kit?

Oh and how long does it typically take for them to show up?

I have a 1998 4wd Explorer and recently changed the rear springs. I went to the local spring shop and told them what kind of driving I do and what i was looking for in the rear suspension. They explained to me that the quality of my stock almost 300,000 mile springs was superior to the new springs made today. They removed an add a leaf and built me a set of springs using a combination of some of my old springs and some new ones. The springs were arced to give the proper ride height using the original shackles and no other aftermarket parts. I wasn't convinced that this was a good approach because it is not the normal way we see in magazines and kits but thought I should give it a try. it was also less expensive than other alternatives. My first trip out I drove on Mexican dirt roads after a big rainstorm. the roads were a giant mud bog and very rough. The springs were amazing and far exceeded my expectations.

I ended up getting my spring from Alcan Spring. The springs were custom made out of brand new metal that they bent to my specifications (lift height, driving style, load). I got a five leaf pack with no overload. Couldn't be any happier. They turned out great and give a good ride on and off road.

Was Alcan good to work with? I'm just curious, since I had my 9 month long odyssey getting my OME springs. Were you able to talk to a spring tech I assume?

I still can't believe it took OME that long. That's ridiculous.

But yes Alcan was very good to work with. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a custom leaf spring setup. First I had to fill out a form with all the specs of my vehicle, how much weight I carried in gear and other stuff like that. Sent that to them. Then they called me the next day, which was very timely, and we discussed exactly what I was using the springs for and how I wanted them to perform. Also talked about how many leafs, overload vs. no overload, etc. Four weeks later I had my springs. Which I would also say was very timely for custom packs. The leafs came with bushings, anti friction pads, two retaining clips per pack, and a nice coat of black paint. They also have a warranty on the springs too. And I've been really happy with the ride quality of the springs on and off road.

It was more 4Wheelparts leaving them in their warehouse and not calling me, than it was OME/ARB. I would have been better off going with Alcan it looks like.

I can't complain about the OME springs though, they seem to be well coated, and well made. They did fit perfectly.

I've modified over the years so much I'm having a hard time keeping exactly what was what when.... especially when I look at pictures I have..

If I remember correctly, the Duff 2.5" springs with f-150 spacers in the front matched well to the OME-36 + WAR-153 shackles. I'm pretty sure this shot is of that combination (with 33" tires). That is about the limit of what was alignable with the stock beams.

As for shackles... The War-153 shackles are 8.5" long (stock is 5.5") which is how you get "around" 1.5" of lift from it. So, to get 1" of lift from the shackles you would want a 7.5" long shackle. Off the top of my head I don't know of one made for the explorer (2.5" wide, 7" long with 14mm bolt holes). @Brian1 is the first name that comes to mind as someone who could build it... He does really nice work

I know I'm new but I thought to clear 33s I was going to have to run 5.5 to 6 inches of lift.
