BenS and I went wheeling at rockaway on sunday, couple of inches of snow on the ground and fairly easy trails. We're going on this one trail that's pretty easy and we're coming to the end, round a right turn and i start to head down a hill, I didn't realize how steep and slippery it was. I slid down into a tree hitting the door and part of the body. Get down to the bottom and get out and see Ben slid into the same tree head on taking out his bumper, headlight, corner lens and fender. I break out the come a long winch him back from the tree and he slides down and gets his truck up on a rock and takes out his rocker. this is around 12:30 or so, I try to continue down the trail and side into a tree taking out my drivers side mirror and fender. We go and check out the rest of the trail and decide against trying to finish it since it was real steep and slick. Meanwhile i had been in touch with a friend of mine who was with 3 other people on quads and i was supposed to meet up with them. Ben pulls my truck backwards with his and we ended up using the come a long to get my truck back far enough to where i could move. This of course not after i managed to get 2 saplings caught between the tire and the fender and the force of me getting pulled back messed up the fender enough that i cant even open the passenger side door now. around this time my friend and his friends show up on thier quads and give us a hand. we get ben turned around and he makes an attempt on the hill we had come down and he makes it up about half way after a couple of attempts. this is around 3pm i believe after about an hour of winching him up 5ft at a time the come a long breaks! fortunantly i have a 60" highlift and we used that to get ben to the top of the hill. by this time it's starting to get dark and we havent even gotten my truck back up the hill yet. I make an attempt on the hill, slide sideways and wack my bumper on a rock bending it and damaging the head light. I try again and make it up a little bit farther. We start winching my truck up the hill and of course the locker starts making funny noises at one point but eventually went away and my alternator was acting up. It was getting to the point where i could only keep the heat on when i was on the gas while being winched up the hill. we finally get me to the top and with a little struggling make it to the top and out off the trail around 10pm. and of course the pics...

Thats just a lil character for your truck.. So hows the lack of a music going so far?

Damn... I cant belive you killed your truck like that  :(

What kind of tires are you using? I will never buy them hahaha

They're 35" pro comp m/ts I dont care what kind of tires you had you where getting in trouble on that section of trail regardless of what tires you had.

Thats too bad man, so what you gonna do now, fill the dents with expanding foam and hit it with the spraypaint?;)

Sounds like a real PITA, at least you eventually made it out.

Ouchies!! Did you bust out you passanger side front window? Looks like something is missing.

Well at least you had fun Doug. I guess this is the price you pay for having such a good time on trails. I said I guess because I wouldn't know a thing about trails :D. Just dust her off and get her ready for the next one. :)

I didn't break any windows, just the things pictured, i got a 10 dollar universal mirror from walmart on the drivers side for now till i get a new one. It looks like my head unit is dead which kinda sucks, i'm going to try and get a new wiring harness for it since the one i have now is kinda messed up. If it does turn out my headunit took a crap that'll give me a good excuse to upgrade to one with mp3 capabilities. :)

Ouch.....ouch......double ouch...
What exactly broke on the puller? How well did the high lift work out?

SWEET!

It was a good weekend for carnage.
If you had chains on those tires do you still think you would have hit?
hahaha

Whats the plan to fix it?

I don't know how much chains would have helped, we could barely walk up and down the hill it was so slick and steep but im sure they would have helped. I'm going to take the fenders off and try and bang them back out. but not really sure how to go about it. I don't to end up tweaking them further. I think i'll just put them down on a piece of card board and use a piece of 2x4 to hammer them back in to some resemblence of shape. :p the come a long was a 20 dollar special from walmart and the plastic pulley broke and at the same time the latch that keeps it from reversing fell off. The highlift was a little bit more cumbersome to use but it worked flawlessy and didnt give us any issues.

dont even bother trying to hammer the sheet metal back out. the skin is so thin it will look just as boogered after you "fix" it as it does now. wear it with pride. :D
