Well, I figured out what the mysterious vibration was...turns out its related to the drive shaft, more specifically the U-joint. there are chunks missing from the yoke (or at least thats what he called it). its the housing that the bloody u-joint is in next to the rear diiff. I have spoken to two parts stores, they do not carry this particular piece. my question is this... a) what in the hell is this thing actually called? and b) where can I find it? the dealer and I spend a half an hour trying to figure out exactly what I was talking about. apparently ford had three or four different items that fit the description... I have no idea where to go with it from here. any ideas?

If it's the piece bolted to the rear end through a center bolt into the rear, I believe it's called a pinion yolk.

The common name for it is the yoke, but Ford may call it something else I don't know. You aren't likely to find on in a parts store, that is a dealer part. You could pick one up in a wrecking yard maybe, if they would part a drive shaft assembly.
