you would need to replace the computers wirring the front drive trail the whole front end....etc.....you would be better off buying a 4wd version of your truck

Put a manual x-fer case in and do an sas...that would be the easiest. If you wanted to spend the coin an atlas would rock ;)

Or get a rolled 4x4 and start switching parts...

an atlar runs about 3k....if you have the $$ then they are sweet. But an atlas 4:3:1's low range is so low the stock brakes cant hold it back.

A 4wd conversion isn't going to be "cheap" regardless.

I'm going to be doing this in a while... I came here specificly looking for answers.

I plan on putting in a manual transfer case in behind my Sport Tracs 5 speed auto and putting in a EB D44 in (maybe a Waggy front with leafs?).

Has ANYBODY done this? Even more specifically has anybody put a SAS on a Sport Trac?

since no one has replied there is a solid axle swap registry, and there has been quite a few cars posted while in the process, and I'm pretty new here and dont know if there has been any sports sas, but i would do a search on sas for sports, and i'm sure a gearhead will get back to you also and tell me i'm wrong, but i dont know where the stock location is for a manual transfer case is, but if you've compared, it'll probubly be right, as far as the D44 it'll be plenty good for your sport, anyways just didn't want ya to be twidlin your thumbs
 Ryan

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it.

Believe me, I've been through the registry and looked at a guys on another bored of his '03 Ranger. It was a 50+ page long post from start to 'finish' and I read it all the other night. It's wild.

I've only seen one ST SAS'd and the guy is from Iceland... his truck is WILD. I absolutly love it.

I don't believe putting a SFA in a ST will be any different then a '98+ Ranger as the suspensions are the same (torsion bars).

The only problem I see now with the 4wd swap would be the transfer case shifter as I don't want to loose my full length console the ST has, but I'm sure I can work around it and figure out something. But I can always wait on putting the 4wd in, I'll just have a SFA with no use for a while. But it will still look good! lol

Yeah ill probubly do the same, just finish up all the harder fab work, then look more into the x-fer case. thanks ryan
i,m not sure how the xfer case is set up but manual linkage may be ablt to come out thru the side of the tranny hump, passenger side maybe, not sure ill go look//looks like it may fit :D

still not sure for the front end what would be better coils/coilovers/leafs/ or i any body has put deavers in the front? i like to jump and 4x4 any sagestions, i dont like a arms they come out of alignment to easy anyway.

I think putting in the type of front suspension depends on what you will be doing and/or the type of axle that you get.

The EB axles are already setup for radius arms and coils while Wagoner axles are leaf sprung.
