Help! Check engine light still on

Hello everyone ok I've got a 97 explorer that I've just worked on with my husband replacing the egr valve sensor because the cel was on and turned it over it went off yesterday after replacing the part and went to the store this morning and he stupid thing came back on. Any advice on why and what to do we're desperate Lol thanks

First thing would be to get the code scanned, and post back here what the it is. Ignore the code descrition, all we need is the code.

it should be displayed as a p with 4 digits. We should not assume anything without the exact code, as it could be something simple--overlooked, or left disconnected during the previous work you did.



Also, does your 97 have a metal tube going from the egr valve down to the exhaust manifold? This is important. The 97 model year introduced some changes mid year. We need to know which configuration your truck has.
