Henson's TurboX RIP!

I thought about new axles but figured the ones we have are good. Guess I should re-think this one.

In normal use the surface of the axle where the bearing rides does wear out. Axles may last 100k, or 150k, but often just 50k, or more than 200k. It's random, so I knew with my high mileage it was going to be time. I think I paid about $250 for a pair with bearings and seals, for an aftermarket brand.

James,

Just read your posts! Sorry to hear about the accident. The material things can eventually be replaced, but glad you came out of it ok! Did you mention what speed you were going when all hell broke loose?

I was running 55mph

I've always loved the sport trac, especially the v8 version. A turbo at 6 - 8 LBS wouldn't be bad?

I will keep my next vehicle modded with basically bolt on's. I hope to have a track vehicle which gets trailered and not driven daily. As far as axles, the Explorer is a 31T big bearing axle. Very stout equipment, I had MANY launches on slicks. Was this a odd situation? I cannot answer that one I haven't ever heard of anyone breaking an axle in a Ex.-j

Get better! Sorry to hear of your tragedy.

This is horrible..Glad you are ok. I'm an EMT and I can vouch for the explorer being a safe truck. With that said I've posted a sale on rear axles. I promise I make almost NO money off this and am doing it for the safety of the forum members..it's in the vendor section if your interested. And again..glad you are ok..

I just don't know what to say man, other than Jakee and Limited02 better be careful. The rest of the drag strip leader board is in pieces.

Thanks for the thought Eric;) I have been driving slow and trying to up MPG. After hearing of your accident, then Turdle trying to run things over:D and Jame's Ex making a dive, I've kinda chilled because I don't want to join the crowd.

James- Sorry to hear what happened. I have been meaning to get ahold of you for some questions about tunes but I'd rather give you some time to mourn over the death of your Ex. If I were you, maybe snatch up an Adrenalin and do some basic mods like you mentioned. If you can crack the tuning on the 6-speed tranny, you'll be selling tuners like hotcakes!!!! Good luck and looking forward to what you do next.

Me too. The truck's running pretty good. I'll touch base soon James.

I am working on this right now, the only thing with being able to control the tranny requires an upgrade towards a new style X3. I am looking at an Adrenalin, just don't know what will be after that in the mod department. There won't be a part put on it without it seeing the dyno. I would like to know exactly what each part does. Thanks-j

Will you release the dyno numbers for the new one? If so I think it would be a very valuable resource for the forum, especially since very few people have done much performance wise to them.

And speaking of dyno numbers will you let us know what TurboX was putting down now that it's gone?

Yeah I want some dyno numbers!!! If things work out next spring, maybe me and some others around here can make a trip out to your shop and have a dyno day?

I am looking for an Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin. If I can find one once I start the mods I will release all dyno #'s. As far as my late X- 8psi was 380 hp and 14# was 448 hp. She was strong. At the beginning of the year we lifted a head getting greedy with the boost (18psi). That is the reason it was on a hiatus. I had another engine being built, but it was shelved! Now it has been dissassembled and parts individually sold at my dyno. I was shooting for the 600 hp goal but don't know whether I would've gotten there. I believe 550 would have been entirely possible with LOTS of boost and massive RPM.

Are we talking RWHP here? If so, those are the best numbers I've ever seen for the 4.0. The mustang crowd see's around 340 @ 9 PSI and a little over 400 with 12 PSI.

I'm sure I'm way lower than this at 9 PSI - maybe 320 RWHP or so. This is my best guess.

And what dyno's are the mustang usually running on? If on dyno jet, the should read a little higher than if on a Mustang dyno. 320hp sounds realistic, but I bet you are pushing alittle more than that. Not to get off topic here, but how is the new motor combo coming along and how many #'s boost do you plan to run Jakee? I say you pick up where James left off:D

Just found out been out of town for work until a few days ago, Sorry for your loss James and again Glad your okay, we all know the trucks come and go and are worth nothing compared to everyone and their families! Glad your alright from me and my wife!

The #'s are rear wheel and I have been trying to get a hold of the dyno where it was tuned at to get the sheet (before I had my dyno). The temp was 7* on a real agressive tune with meth. Please don't forget I ran "that stuff".

The temp was 7* and 20% humidity on a real agressive tune with meth. Please don't forget I ran "that stuff". The 448 could have been a fluke but I back it up with 440! This was on a Dynojet 248-j
