Very sorry to see this. It was a truck I admired and loved very much. It's one thing for an off-road rig to get a little beat up or rolled, but seeing all these really nice rigs getting mashed is just sickening. Good thing you kept it right side up, with the boat it could have ended much worse.
Good luck healing up what wounds you have (physically and emotionally) and getting insurance and such straightened out. Hopefully you can recover everything quickly and build up another vehicle.
I heard of this unfortunate news earlier in the week but didn't feel it was my place to inform the board. I'll be honest though, it was hard to keep it in as we have a pretty tight community here.
The single most important thing is that James is ok. We all love Explorers, but at the end of the day, it's just a vehicle. It's nothing compared to a life.
Thanks everyone for the concerns, I really appreciate it. I was going to buy back the truck but after evaluating it, I just cut my losses and walked from it. I did get everything except the headers off the truck. I currently am in my mom's Explorer Sport Trac LImited V8. This will be a good time to get it on my dyno and evaluate the shifts and write some good tunes for the new 6 speed to get my mind off things. I probably will buy a Explorer Sport Trac Limited for my daily ride (this time a 4.6L 3V-just like my moms), the new Trac is too heavy for a V6. I am going to purchase anywhere from 08 newer. It is too early to say whether she'll be modded. I probably will do bolt on's and leave it alone. I will have another project in the making. I won't be getting away from Ford or the Explorer. The more I drive my mom's Trac the more I like it. I also am averaging 19.8 mpg stock! Not bad if I do say so myself. I'll get a few pics and post them up of my mom's (my temporary) ride.
Just read your posts! Sorry to hear about the accident. The material things can eventually be replaced, but glad you came out of it ok! Did you mention what speed you were going when all hell broke loose?
Wow, another nice truck has gone down. James, I hope you feel better soon and find another great truck to work on. I'm sorry to hear these things. I bought new axles for mine but I want to rebuild the rear first. I've thought about them as a weak link, a heavy truck with lots of traction and power.
