Hey UK I got 2 questions for ya

Do you guys have console shifters ?
I thought all right hand drive explorers do-

Yes we have console shifters with the hand brake (you call it the emergency brake) built in.

Yes we have scrap yards, containing mostly euro and jap cars.

Hello and yes we do have if you mean a shifter between the front seats, I really prefer the look of this to the tiny shift leaver in the column you guys are stuck with, it just looks more meaty and like it belongs-know what I mean?

Salvage yards- Oh yes, here they are almost always called breakers- I guess they operate a lot like yours. I have come across a good thing, some are in a network and if you register an interest in a part, say for example a mirror assy- the message will go to all in the network and one will come back to you with a price and delivery date!
So cool and saves phoning 30 places up!

Would you keep a lookout if you do by chance go to a "breaker"

I think you would need the whole console. As even the venting arrangement is different. (no extra rear fan) The ducting is modified to allow for the shifter.

Well I think this is a cool project if it is at all possible.I've already lost the rear audio controls
I'd sure like to Explore the possibilities. I'd compensate ya for your time and parts, or offer a partial trade.

you could do with some detail interior pics of the UK version to plan what you have to do, thats a start anyways!

Ive been doing some research and here is what i came up with: UK & AU Explorers came with Ford Taurus (98-02) shifters but flipped. if we can get a few consoles here we can drop in explorer shifter and TA-TA numbers will be correct.

How about bumpers like in AU. check the pic

That is almost correct. Ours say PRND21 and have an overdrive on off switch in the handle below the main button.

Good to know you too have the Explorer madness----------It dont make sense, but I will do it anyway, I know it dont need it, I know it will cost a lot of money, etc...............BUT, boy will it look gooooooooood!!!!!!

John, just do it right and drop a T-56 transmission in there to get your center console shifter.
